Ooof this is messy looking all around
Doubt.
So the Canes wanted the team in the *developmental* league to prioritize *developing* players and are….the » bad guys »? Uh….ok.
TD going to buy or create a minor league team now? Hartford maybe? Richmond have a team?
I asked what happened to make out feeder teams want to leave us….
I guess this is an example. Right or wrong, they probably don’t want the Canes to interfere with their coaching or team management decisions past a certain point.
This is messy all around.
Lyon’s famous photo makes a whole lot more sense than just retaliation to the Springfield fans now
Honestly this is more of an issue that should be addressed by the owners and Gary.
If the NHL team is paying the salary of nearly every one on the team, they should have the right to make these kind of calls. It’s a developmental league filled with NHL teams prospects. It’s not some new concept that they would want to develop their players.
I’d be pissed too if I were the canes. I understand that the wolves want to win, but when we have an up-and-coming goalie that we want prepared for deep playoff runs and high pressure situations, him sitting on the bench in the playoffs doesn’t do shit for us. We’re providing them with players, coaches and staff for a reason. They’re a developmental team, and their priority SHOULD be developing our guys. Ridiculous that people are attempting to bash us for them trying to overstep their role as an affiliate
This is coming from Chicago so I’ll take with a grain of salt, but that’s unhinged behavior by Carolina if that’s the case. I totally get wanting to prioritize the development of Kochetkov (who is also really good!) but Warsofsky was a great coach in the org and had done a great job helping to develop guys. Really would like to keep coaching talent in the pipeline as well even though Rod seems to really just want to ride with “his” guys
Uh, so this seems totally reasonable? Warsofsky is a Canes employee coaching a team mostly of Canes players. He reports to the Canes. Our management is in full right to say he should play the Canes players.
That /r/hockey thread is a museum of horrific takes by Habs fans.
