Played some beer league with a defenceman whomwas much more talented, and played way harder than I did. Fearless, and I’ve see him block a few shots.
One day we were sitting next to each other getting set for a skate and noticed my man was rocking some SAXX boxers, and nothing else under his pants.
I’m a team player and don’t want to see anyone gettin hurt, so I says to the guy… »Hey man, what the fuck? »
And he says, « Never once in my life buddy, I’ll chafe if I wear one »
Either hard as fuck or dumb as fuck, guy was a beauty.
For some select guys, fear is just not a thing. Good for you guys. But I would maintain « Always wear a cup » be golden rule #2.

When I played goalie for street hockey games I never wore a cup…one day I got hit DIRECTLY in the right nut with a snapshot.
I went down, took a break, shook it off as best I could, then played on.
Was ok the rest of the game until the same guy comes in on a breakaway and snaps it right into ol’righty again. This time I’m DOWN.
Ball ended up being crazy swollen and painful the next day and I had practice…everytime I took a stride on the ice, my giant swollen nut would slap against my leg and it was horrendous.
