  1. There is component of Leaf fans who are always enthralled with a banger who can chuck'em. Don't get me wrong, I like guys like that too, but you still have to be able to play. In the absence of Schenn who I thought would re-sign until Nashville gave him an overpay + more term. If I was Schenn, I'd have also taken that deal. Benoit is a league minimum facsimile. No issues.

  2. As a ducks Fan, having watched basically every game of the last season I am baffled that a contender would sign 2 of our 6 regulars from the defense.

That was the worst defense corps our franchise ever had. Hope they can bring more in less playing time but boy, they were brutal to watch.

Benoit is at least entertaining, he has a snarl to him and hits anything that moves. But he is not a NHL caliber defender

  3. In NHL 24 you guy a pack, like 50% you get a Leafs player. Paying everyone lul.

  4. Nothing wrong with a depth signing. From the looks of it, he's a worker bee. Should he be in the top 4? No. Bottom pair? Perhaps, either if there are injuries or just see give him some time up to see what he can do, sure. This is a good move, not because he'll likely make any difference to the Leafs, but you need to have players available for the Leafs and Marlies (depending on where he lands on the depth chart). Personally, I would have rather spent Klingberg's money on Acciari and Schenn, but what do I know?

  5. Long d …hes got reach isnt scared to.drop the gloves and run through ppl …his plus minus sucked but hes a big body they need that

  6. Looks like the Leafs found a dman to compete in the playoffs…toughness is needed. Skill is not always important when playoffs is about stifling offence.

  7. I really like benoit as a 6th-7th guy. He was a defensive bottom pairing defenseman on a REALLY bad team. Not a lot room to shine when you are defensive only and on a good night your team looses with 4 goals against

  8. Their is a trade rumor that see other ex ducks coming. The trade rumor as T.J brode, Timothy Lijegren, and Nick Robinson and 1st round pick in 2024 or 2025 and 3rd round pick in 2024 to the Ducks for Cam Fowler at 50% less cap hit for leafs that would be 3.25m for the next 3 years and Frank Vatrano at 50% less cap hit for leafs that would be 1.5m aav for next 2 years and depth defenseman Urho Vaakanainen at 875k aav and Conner Timmins to canadiens for Michael Pezzetta. if true or not we will see?

  9. I saw this signing and was surprised, I had him a little in fantasy for his hits! Kinda excited for a good depth piece.

  10. While the Ducks were bad last year, I'd have to think part of what made them bad was that these 2 were on their D core. That seems bad, especially when these 2 weren't the best defense on the bad team.

  11. I find it interesting that the Leafs defense is considered good and deep while the Oilers defense is considered weak and in need of upgrades. It's definitely more about systems the team plays that keeps the score down more than the personnel. The Oilers top 3 of Nurse, Ekholm and Bouchard if slid over to the Leafs would be the top 3 of the Leafs.

  12. I saw him throw a hit and a fight therefore he’s a massive upgrade on holl even if he never plays a minute

  13. Screaming and yelling about a guy who may never play a game with the Leafs is……… feigning excitement. You suck. Be a bit more professional

  14. He’s a defensive defenceman, and he shouldn’t be faulted for doing what he did with Anaheim. Why not pair him with Brodie as a shutdown? This isn’t supposed to be like the Rangers where Lindgren has Fox clean up after him.

  15. Sorry, 137 NHL games, -37 for a Dman….slow, can't handle the puck…I guess we are just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks
