I agree with most of the article. They leave out the eyeball test stuff. Olofsson is kotalik 2.0. Not particularly fast, not a great playmaker, his upside is that he should be required to take a background check to shoot that hard. He has a cannon. He does generally play in the lower lines so if the defense improves this season ( I think it will) his offense should improve.

He is basically a PP specialist. Last season the pp stunk in my opinion. It was just TT bombing shots from Ovi’s office. It’s just my opinion but it would be interesting to see TT on the left and Olofsson on the right to start the season for the PP. That is 2 absolutely massive shots from either side. If it doesn’t work, adjust from there. But as a whole I believe that player like cozens are going to step it up even further and PP2 is going to be better and likely that’s where Olofsson sits.

And kotalik didn’t last long on the sabres, much less when he was traded.

Having more than just a shot is necessary in todays game, you gotta play both sides and have skills to pass or dangle.

I dont think the sabres trade him NOW. However with Jiri Kulich, benson, savoie, rosen. There is competition for spots and honestly if victor doesn’t up his game, then it shouldn’t be any surprise at some point during the season if someone else comes in and takes his spot and victor is traded.

People forget that it’s a contract year for VO. My money is on him being possessed by the ghost of Drew Stafford.

I love Alison and think he’s a great player. She gave us a great PP and is an elite shot option. We just have a huge log jam of young forwards and Olofsson is en expiring contract.

If we can trade him before the offseason and get an asset back, i think it will let young players have a spot to compete over and be better for the long-term decision.
