1. How concerned are you with Pettersson's comments? Or did he say exactly what you would expect him to say?

  2. Hi clay great vid I’m not overly concerned yet mildly nervous with this situation but not enough to push the panic button I learned my lesson when I hoped horvat would get a extension here but got traded

  3. petey has been so consistant over the last couple years that his comments dont make me nervous at all really. he has always said 1. he wants to get a cup, 2. he likes vancouver, and 3. he likes the direction of the team. i expected to say exactly these comments because hes a pretty honest guy

  4. RFA don’t mean nothing now days. If the Canucks don’t make it to the playoffs upcoming season I think Pettersson will force his way out. I don’t have a problem with him waiting to see how this season plays out.

  5. I personally think he is waiting to see how much the cap goes up to see if he should sign a shorter contract and get a bigger piece of the pie when salary cap goes up… I would love to see him sign a 12mx8yr contract but might sign a short deal and bet on himself to get a nicer payday… might see a 10mx3yr… then a huge contract after like a 13-14 mil deal x 8 yr pending how much cap goes up… just my two cents…

  6. #40 probably wants to see the direction of the team and , I DON'T blame him

  7. I fully support his right to hold off on signing a new contract. He wants to see if the team makes any real progress this coming season. Real progress would be… MAKE THE DAMN PLAYOFFS! If they do that, he'll probably sign at least a 4 or 5 year deal. If they don't, he might wanna leave. And I wouldn't blame him.

  8. Petey is gonna be leaving after this season unless by some miracle this team has an amazing season, he wants a cup and to win mean while canucks last home playoff game was 9 years ago

  9. I mean, yeah, a little? I actually thought him being lukewarm on the idea of captaincy was a possible issue. I mean, how do you become captain and bail a year later? So, yeah he is also kind of shy but I think he would jump at that role if he saw a clear path her long term.

Who knows though? If you think about it, nobody wants to be forced where to live and work, and Petey is a young guy that maybe has seen some nice places by now and probably very open to change unless something magical happens this season. Hoping for some magic here 😂

  10. let contract negotiation with Pettersson go until end of season? even if go to arbitration; works for both player and team to negotiate contract after season over

  11. Iam really concerned. I think the Canucks should offer him 10.5 million over 4 or 8 years make him chose now or bench him. He will be a New York Ranger this time next year

  12. It sounds like a slow divorce to me. I watched many Canucks teams over the years. The fact is that it's a thing is not good news. I really don't care for players who don't want to be here. As talented as he is, i would rather have a linden type or smyl type player with less skill n more heart.

  13. Toronto media trying hard to get the fan base and local media stressed out. That's his job.

  14. The honest answer from most players in this market is: either pay me crazy money or get me the hell out of here! Players legitimately DO NOT LIKE the ownership and…the MEDIA! It’s true of most Canadian markets that players can’t stand the intrusive, pushy, overwhelming all-consuming focus on their every move. Petey would be much happier in a big US market where he could play the game and go about his life without 10 microphones stuck in his face constantly. Don’t believe me? Haha, you’ll see.

  15. He will wait at least until a break in the season I think to make sure there isn't the early season slump that leaves the team out of playoff chances before Christmas. If it's looking positive, competitive and playoff-bound, then all will be fine.

  16. Yea. It is communicates an uncertainty in the direction of the Canucks' franchise. Matthew commits to Leafs — and everyone in hockey (fans, gm, potential free agents) has a clear indication of Leafs salary cap, commitment & direction moving forward. Canucks lack clarity for the rest of the season regarding important transactions for long term salary cap issues.

  17. The stupid money that Mathews and Marner will be getting will skew the future contracts of productive players so much so that their teams will start to go down hill. Amazing players but can't find enough cap space for the supporting cast needed to win the cup. Soon it will be challenging for the Leafs to even make the playoffs. The should be alright this year, but the following year it gets more challenging. We are in a flat cap era and that is not going to change any time soon, contrary to what the talking heads thing.
