Dylan Holloway must show up this season.
I feel like if RL has a good push he could help the the roster the most
i want petrov, Bourgault or Lavoie to have a good training camp , i dont care what Broberg or Holloway do at training camp they need to show up in the NHL
Are they doing that whole penticton thing again this year with the rookies?
If Holloway has another good camp and makes the roster again and fails to execute in the NHL again, he'll be traded away in 2024. Why? Because the last spot is massively valuable for the Oilers. The team cannot afford to waste the last spot. Maybe that's why they call him Hollywood…all glitz and no gritz. If management gives Holloway the last spot, again, and he doesn't deliver again, they'll be so pissed a trade is guaranteed. For me personally, when Holloway got absolutely bull dozed over in one of his first games in his pro career that said it all. Doesn't see the ice well and that hit alone will have a very long lasting psychological effect in the back of his mind for years to come. Unless he puts on 25 lbs of muscle I say trade Holloway while his value is high and get a vet back. We need vets. However, Sam G, is not the vet we need.
Opportunities (and job spots) are EARNED, not given like prizes in Cracker Jack boxes (yes, I'm old). I don't consider Brown, Holloway, or most others as "givens". To me McDavid, Hyman, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, Nurse, Bouchard, Ekholm, Kane (who may still have issues), Ceci (and even he's iffy allowing for last year), Kulak, Skinner, Campbell, McLeod, Foegelle, Janmark, and Ryan are expected players. Beyond that nothing is free. It MUST be earned. This includes Desharnais, Broberg, and ALL of the others. You want the BEST team to be iced but part of being BEST is being CONSISTENT. It would be wonderful if the open slots had 2 or 3 guys seriously vying for them so that we have depth when injuries happen (and it doesn't hurt the Condors to have talent too). Just an opinion.
