  1. I could really do with a lot less self-inflicted embarrassing scandals by Canucks management this season. At this point just getting to the first game of the season might be a stretch.

  2. Sounds like we're not going to get a discount on Pettersson. If he plays really well he's getting a huge paycheque SOMEWHERE, and if he plays disappointingly, that's not good for the Canucks either. We can't blame the guy for wanting to get paid… at all. Honestly, I think only the Sedins and Burrows ever really took discounts to play here. My only concern under the salary cap, is that when you pay a true superstar what he's worth, you can't also dress a team that can win a cup along side them. You need to find the cost-savings somewhere to really compete with the depth you need.

  3. Queens park arena has so much history. Too bad Lacrosse never took off as a major sport in North America.

  4. Why are they not looking at the old coliseum or the PNE grounds? Look where the Leafs practise and Marlies play. It’s in worse condition than the coliseum.

  5. I lived close to the New West Arena, I watched the Salmonbellies, the New Westminster Royals and the Bruins. I remember watching Fran Huck a hot shot Junior on the Pats play against the Bruins. I watched a guy named Wayne Spooner practising taking slap shots with a banana bladed hockey stick, the puck would rise up about a foot from its original trajectory. A friend and I climbed on the roof to watch wrestling, we looked through the fan blades used or ventilation. The 60's In New Westminster meant the place to be on Friday night was skating at the Area, the song Norman was played a lot. Another thing I remember along with the arena serving the worst coffee i had ever tasted was the supporting posts that blocked your view if you had bad seats.

  6. Are the media trying to run Petey out of town? At some point "just asking questions" is detrimental, especially when you know the players temperment and that asking certain questions is likely to upset or rub a player the wrong way.

  7. Cut the BS he is leaving dumb dumb everyone else signed with there team he will get paid he wants to play on the playoffs end of story😮😂

  8. When there is no hockey to watch, it's always nice to watch these two talk hockey. Hope u had a good summer, boys!

  9. For a guy who looks a little awkward while skating at times, Petey has some of the best moves. He comes in a little stronger and faster holy cow. He needed just a little more and he would have been in alone on a bunch of breakaways. Every one of those would be highlights. Amazing both him and Quin just keep getting better. Their ceiling can't be to far off.

  10. The problem with players jumping ship to play for a contender is that MOST contenders appear to have a smaller window to win than they used to have, so you could be leaping to a team that wins more now, but doesn't get to the big dance and then falls off the map. One step forward, two steps back. Careful what you wish for…

  11. The main reason that I can see Petey leaving is the Ownership's inconsistencies with Coaching and Management.

  12. I remember even last year people saying I was crazy calling that the pacific is going to be a strong division.

  13. I think the rumors are overblown, hockey media tends to be this way.

First and foremost he's not extended as he's anticipated the rising cap next season and is betting on himself having another monster year to get PAID on his next deal. He should.

If the Canucks miss the playoffs again it might change his commitment in terms of term, but it's not theain reason he hasn't extended.

  14. In his four seasons in Vancouver, Myers has amassed a poor -1.2 wins above replacement (WAR). Among all Canucks defensemen who played for the organization during Myers’ tenure, he has had the first, eighth, ninth, and 26th worst seasons when it comes to WAR. Last year was Myers’ worst in the blue and green. His -3.9 goals above expected (GAA) was fourth-worst among all defensemen, while his 41% Corsi for (CF%) was bottom-30 among his blue-line counterparts. His offence took a nosedive, as well, putting up just 17 points in 78 games. we need to get rid of this guy to have a winning season.

  15. EP40 is banking on himself having another 100-point season so he can cash in BIG. The problem I have right now is if EP40 gets the big fat contract his performance warrants, the Canucks may just end up being like the Maple Leafs and Oilers in having a mega star but not being able to assemble a supporting cast strong enough to contend for the Cup. So if the brass is serious about building a Cup contender, the prospects of trading away Petey may be a realistic possibility.
