  1. Majority of you are so naive to think that this is a good signing. I thought the Blues signing Robert Thomas to a 8 year deal was bad, but this takes the cake. This is one of the most overreactive knee jerk move from a FO that I have ever seen in a long time in the NHL. I thought Ottawa would have more sense with new ownership, but apparently you can't buy out stupidity. This is the same organization who gave Karlsson a ridiculous contract of $6.5M AAV for 7 years in 2013. This kid does not deserve Makar level money. Give it less than 2 years for the Sens fanbase to be pissed over the contract

  2. Admit it, you said he was drafted 15th overall to get the comments flooded to help the Youtube algorithm.

One thing that tends to be overlooked with these long term deals is that there isn't as much risk when the player is this young. If a worst case scenario happens, and he turns into the next Jared Cowen, he can be bought out at a cap hit of less than $1.4M per year till '28.

  3. I'm a Sens fan hoping for the best but after Noris' terrible deal, I,m not sure about this one. Like you said, we only saw one year out of him

  4. Even though he was picked at 5th overall he still was a steal

  5. As a Toronto fan, nothing better than a battle of Ontario being competitive, and Sens fans finally having quality hockey to cheer for, great for the region, great for the league.

  6. Id be very weary of ottawa and buffalo. It would not surprise me if they upset the atlantic in a major way. I can see them in the top 3 with Toronto easily.

  7. Super happy with this deal people who dont watch the Sens will say its a bad deal but just like Brady, Timmy, and Batherson Im sure Jake Sanderson will prove them wrong like you said pts arent everything for Sanderson his defensive game is already better than his offensive game which is crazy for a rookie

  8. Love this contract for Ottawa but I am midly concerned with him only having one year under hist belt. However, even with a potential softmore slump I think he will 100% live up to this contract

  9. I kind of like how Ottawa's doing this. Pay your core all in the same area, makes it feel like they're all in this together

  10. sens just need to get decent goaltending and their golden

  11. "I can't remember the last time a player clearly wanted out of ottawa" is this sarcasm or are u high?

  12. But…but….Brady Tkachuk isn't going to re-sign in Ottawa! He's going to leave, to go play with his brother in Florida!

  13. Finally, a video that can answer all my burning questions about this trade.
    Namely — "who?"

  14. He’s gonna be a stud but I’m ngl I wasn’t expecting an 8×8 deal for Sanderson. Dorian’s got some balls let’s just say that

  15. You have to have the kid evaluated correctly for this to work. Hopefully they have done that. Pietrangelo after winning a cup got $8.8 million for 8 years.
Sanderson played a big role on a defense that wasnt that good. But he is only 21.

I still think the defense could use another veteran mid pair guy.

  16. The Sabres locked up Cozens and Thompson early and now those deals look like steals! I wish they had done the same with Dahlin.

  17. I can't wait to come back to this video in a few years for this contract to have aged beautifully.

All the people saying "bUt hE HaS 4 gOaLs" need to stop stat-watching and actually watch the games he plays. Kid is rock-solid and his deal will be a steal just like Stutzle's

  18. As Steve Dangle says, okay, you really needed that .05 right? makes a big difference to you! oh, prevents us from potentially filling up a roster lol

  19. No more excuses from this team, they got paid and maybe too soon seeing how as a team they havent accomplished anything. Its time to improve and make the playoffs

  20. As a Sens fan I love this deal for our team..Don't get all the hate.. We are signing our young core and Sandy is definitely one of them..Time will tell if it works out .. But if the management loves the player they aren't going to wait they will just sign him ..

  21. Man, in 2-3 years it's gonna be Ottawa, NJ, and Buffalo at the top of the east. They all built their teams the proper way with elite players on bargain deals.

  22. Sens have drafted so well in recent years. Remember when people questioned them for picking Jake? Clueless.

  23. Man I really liked those reverse retro jerseys. It feels more like it's the sens than the all black jerseys. I would not have minded at all if they made those the regular home jerseys.

  24. Just due to term, Sens will be closer to a cup than the Leafs will be during the next 7 years. Leafs area already thinking/discussing about Matthews next contract talks lol. He hasn't even started his next contract and its already running out

  25. From what I've seen if you have to rely on the argument that the cap is going up in the next few years, you've overpaid and set yourself up for cap problems in the future. Having said that, I get that Ottawa is not a top destination and this may be a necessary strategy on their part to keep core guys happy. You don't want people walking away like Stone.
