  1. 14-3, yet people bring up underlying numbers. This is why I put little. Stock into advanced stats. Way too many factors that can skew stats. We're told that it's not sustainable longterm we are being outplayed etc yet since we are giving up lots of shots our possession numbers and other stats look worse then they are. Greener prefers the rope a dope style that allows a lot of shots but keeps them to the outside and perimeter. Nucks have the talent to capitalize on chances and most of their top players tend to take less shots and go for quality over quantity. Seems the team is suited to the styles on both ends and are having success.

  2. I think they're good enough to enter playoffs, but if they lose in round 1 no one will be surprised but if they make it past round 2 everyone will be surprised

  3. Not a cup contender but Quinn Hughes scored 2 goals vs the Islanders today to put him #1 in Rookie Scoring Leader with 38pts and 1 point above Cale Maker 37pts

  4. Not a cup contender, but they just beat the Islanders, making it 14 wins in 17 games. They have thirty games left, so even if they played .500 hockey for the rest of the season, they'd finish with 94 points. Any Canucks fan would've been happy to hear that at the beginning of the season, and they're playing far better than .500. If they end up winning 4 of their next 6, for instance, I think you have to start considering they might reach 100 points by season's end. That'd be wild. Guess we'll see. They could still fall off, but I think it's been a hell of a season so far. Lots of progress all up and down the lineup and we still have one of the better prospect pools in the league, too. Podkolzin, Hoglander, Madden and Lind all look good. Juolevi and Woo look like they've got a good shot, and we signed a college free agent last season who's currently leading all AHL defensemen in scoring. Can't wait to start bringing some of those guys into the fold.
Can't wait to see what the team looks like in two or three years.

  5. Canucks winning Super Bowl, president trophy and then Stanley.

  6. Still think Benning botched the rebuild. Just imagine how close the Canucks would be to being amazing if they weaponized cap space and grabbed extra picks during those years at the bottom. Instead of all the wasted money on FA contracts.

  7. Vancouver has a solid 3rd and 4th line in comparison. They don't rack up points but they don't need to.

  8. "Are the Canucks cup contenders"
Every Canucks fan: Don't even joke about that

  9. I love when people debate or get into arguements over topics like this when theres no clear definition of a Cup Contender….. Or a Top 6 Player, Whose an Generational/Elite/Great/Good Player is

  10. Lol Jesus Christ, a month ago they were asking whether Travis Green should be fired and now they’re asking if the Canucks are cup contenders?? Hockey media is ridiculous

  11. In a couple years when podkolzin gets here and maybe another prospect and a good signing then yeah they’ll be contenders

  12. As a canucks fan I think from what I’ve seen is that a round two or three elimination is very best case scenario

  13. Players will have to accept lower salaries for longer contracts if they expect to stay and grow with the team. Then, just maybe, might we have a new era of dynasties again. If not, and we don't keep these crew together long, we will not likely win a cup.

  14. Is Ferland truly using Canucks fans…. $4.4mil & just wants to sit at home… What a bad move – union worker….

  15. Have legit chance against all in the West except StL & Dallas/Vegas would be tough.. Nashv? Chi? Its very competitive. Paying Ferland & Luongo too much!!

  16. Yes all the way to the first round of elimination where on game four they will turn into losers.

  17. Up and coming team yes. Cup contender would be too early and I’m a Canucks fan.

  18. Playoff hockey is not the same as the regular season. The playoffs is where weaknesses and lack of depth get exposed. I do hope we get to the playoffs, but I expect that, at best, we get to round 2 and then go out in 4.

  19. Any team that makes the playoffs can win the Cup but they're not a contender.

  20. They might win a round, they might be out in the first round. I think they still don't have tough enough forwards to make a long run. But they have improved.

  21. According to this expert, the Canucks aren't a top tier team like St. Louis. But, wait, hasn't Vancouver beaten the Blues the blues this year, and haven't all the games been close?

  22. when it comes to the NHL alll that matters is that you make the playoffs, because the league is very even, every team that makes the playoffs is a contender, look at last year tampa absolutely killed it in the regular season had like 10 or more points than anyone else for presidents trophy winner and end up loosing to columbus first round and st louis wasnt even looked at as much of a team untill they won the cup last year
