Makes sense, we didn’t improve much, and some of the teams around us did
Hopefully we can get lucky this year and finally draft some high end talent (preferably a center) we would be set if we do

I think we finish closer to 10 than 5.
Last year we started the year with 2 d-men with NHL experience. This year it will likely be all 6 with NHL experience. The same can be said with forwards. Monty was regularly in the top 10 for gaa on a team with inexperienced d-men, this year he should be better supported. Key guys were also injured for a large portion of last year’s season. Assuming those guys can stay healthy, it would be a significant improvement.
One of the only impactful roster changes that I can see here is Newhook for Hoffman. Which in itself seems like an improvement. Time will tell.
They do make a point about the pp though. But it likely won’t get any worse than 31st.

The scoring is the key issue. I just don’t see enough goals in us.

Bottom 5 would be best case scenario, I think habs a not that far from Wings, Blues, and other teams in the bottom teens no man’s land.

With martys coach they absolutely not gonna be last

I think they could surprise everyone this year. It all depends on health! They got better last year even with all the injuries. They could come close to a playoff spot if healthy IMO. Lots of guys who could takes big steps, if just one or two do, that’d help.

A fair take I’d say. On the injury front, the problem last year won’t be addressed with just the replacement of the medical staff unless players like Gally and Monahan have been informed of the expectation that they will set a proper example for the kids in the lineup. They’re leaders on the team, it should be clear to them that their behaviours last year were selfish and in the end, hurt the team.

I’m gonna be very disappointed if this team finishes as a bottom 5 team. We should be taking the next step. I don’t think we’re a playoff team but the teams better and it’s almost impossible to have injuries like we did last year. Our special teams need to improve greatly and until we have a good power play it’s going to be difficult to make the playoffs

FTW we make it as an 8 seed and win the cup. Book it.

Watch us make the playoffs and get swept in the first.

Look at our team. If healthy, we are much improved over last year. We do have a stronger roster, and a year of experience for the kids will definitely help.
The problem is that we are still the weakest team in our division. In the conference we still have a bunch of teams ahead of us. We are trending in the right direction, but we still have a long way to go.
I believe we are going to be competitive, but because of how much stronger most of the conference is, we will be in the running for a top 5 pick

Bold prediction. Habs are going to be closer to 12-15. Many people forget that for the first chunk of the season before injuries started to impact the team, the habs felt like a .500 team. Barring issues and another year under the belt for the players. I don’t think this team finishes in the bottom 10.
