I feel like the streak will end this year with the new medical staff. The minute he slows down, the pundits will be all over this quote and the Habs will put him on IR. I really do hope he can stay healthy, but I hope he actually takes care of his body as he should. The injury miles he puts on his body now won’t do him or the team any good when our window opens.

I’m a bit conflicted about this. Great for Suzuki and his ironman streak, but was it better for the team for him to play hurt? Why not take a few days to rest and heal properly and come back 100% instead of being (for example) 85% for the rest of the season?

    This is completely unacceptable.

How can an organisation risk further injuring their star centre and captain, playing him 25+ minutes a night, in a rebuilding season.

Not only the injury risk, but this probably got the Habs just enough more points to miss out on Bedard/Fantilli.

Absolutely garbage decision making from top to bottom.

The biggest thing I hope for the new medical team is the confidence to step in and force players to rest and heal up as a preventative measure. No more waiting until they play through injuries until it needs a major surgery

Not shocked by this, it’s common knowledge that most regulars in the NHL play with some kind of injury by the end of the season.

Tough captain but I’d rather he not do this in the future
