  1. I just want him to be happy and healthy, mentally and physically. He’s won everything at every level (except for a cup)

First ballot hall of famer, class act from day 1, and unbeatable when he was on

    Love the guy, enjoy retirement

  2. for the longest time i considered Carey price to be the best goaltender is the world and that's coming from a bruins fan

  3. For the legend he his and for everything he gave us , we don’t want to trade him , he made history at montreal and he will end his history at montreal , and when it will be over , it’s behind our bench as a goalie coach or even a headcoach or just a trainer or somethings that a new « staff legacy » will start for him but , he is a Montreal Canadien even if he cost us 750k a year , we still love him and of course hope that he will get a great recovery and play a last game with the habs …

  4. Trading price would be crazy, not sure what team would take it? Maybe sharks, flyers or blackhawks? I think Montreal should try but I doubt there are many takers for a dead 10 million contract

  5. its complicated because the OWNER has to pay the money for both the LTIR player and the big signing.

  6. But as long as Carey is on LTIR then his contract doesn’t effect the cap hit. If anything we trade him to AZ for a bag of pucks so they can reach the minimum cap at the deadline.

  7. Am I dumb for thinking maybe they should try to get hellybuck they have things the jets might want

  8. The last real hybrid stand up goalie to play the game. Patty will always be the best, but price was just as good if not better through a lot of his career.

  9. Such a shame… never was a habs fan but i would watch their games just to see Price perform

  10. I wish Carey Price the best. I hope he comes back as a coach or in the front office in some capacity. He's definitely a class guy.

  11. Would I trade a 1st round pick and Price for a star, even in their declining years? After seeing who we picked in the top 5 in the past 2 drafts, I think I'd be more than happy to have Stamkos or whichever star is willing to sign with us. I know it's early to be saying this, but Stamkos at 34 is still better than Slafkovsky is ever going to be. And Reinbacher…I don't even know what to say. I'm not getting overly excited about a guy whose ceiling is going to be a middle pairing d-man. Bring on the aging free agents if this is the best we can do!

  12. The way this management goes, I would expect the Habs to move his contract and gain a draft pick somehow

  13. Great report on Carey Price.
The answer to your Q at this point in time is YES! I'd trade an upcoming 1st rounder to unload Carey's salary…. here's why:
    1. Habs have the deepest stable of young talent & prospects in the NHL…they don't need another mediocre 1st rounder (look what happened to Oilers over those several years of 1st round selections!!!). Habs have some great young talent already in the ranks who need to play NOW!!!
    2. If Habs can unload Carey's huge salary as they did with Weber for a 1st rounder + a prospect…DO IT!!! It'll free up big $$$ to sign a big name/big game player who could lift the team to the proverbial "next level".
    3. Let's not forget….with the Habs young core locked up for the next 8 years…. that's your "Hughes Cup Window" right there!!!! Habs basically have the next 8 seasons for this team to mature, gel, add the right fit superstar (not a geriatric hand me down like Stamkos will be in a couple of years), to see if the Hughes Habs vision will be realized.
    Go Habs!
Thanks Carey for your willingness to do what needs to be done to improve the team.

  14. habs arent in a rush to pay to trade away contracts

  15. Please please please don't trade the recent picks. Do it smart even if it takes a little longer.

  16. I mean Connor Hellebuyck's future in Winnipeg is clearly iffy at best, and he's not too old as goaltenders go. If the Habs could get him from Winnipeg and sign him, or just get him as a UFA. Could be nice for them to finally get a real starting goalie after losing Price.

  17. I think it depends on what the plans are. If they can make moves that would help the team with respect to their rebuild, perfectly fine trading Price's contract to help that along. He'll be back in an advisement role for sure and they'd be happy to have him. But don't force it. Last thing we need is a rushed decision just cuz. I have faith in this management. Price was my first jersey ever and my favourite player to have watched as a habs fan. Best of health to Carey.

  18. I wish carey had a better team in front of him 100% he would win many stanley cup the timming was not good for him our offense all his carrer was fkg horrible

  19. No one will take on that contract for a 1st round pick! Price knows that if he announces his retirement, he gets nothing that is left on the contract! I would not give up any of that money for anything. So the Habs have to eat the contract and place him on LTR. Maybe Arizona or Chicago a team that is rebuilding could take his contract but the Habs are going to have to give up too much. Maybe a 1st and 2nd or even a prospect. LTR sucks because the number goes back on the books after the season and they can not be put back on until opening rosters are finalized. So $10.5 million on the cap over the summer is huge. Again he is owed $31.5 million over the next 3 years. He would be an idiot to give that up!
