  1. I think Nurse is a much better player than what people think. The guy takes a lot of heat for his contract, and people should give it a rest. He eats a lot of minutes, he leads the team in +/-, hits, block shots, and also top 10 in scoring 5v5 with little PP and 4 GWG that season. He also had his highest offensive production last season. I think he will be better next season. Adam Larsson is doing well in Seattle. I wish he would stay with the Oilers. But he got hate over the Taylor Hall trade. That was a good trade because RD is VERY VALUABLE and he was very good in his role, while Hall is now on his 6th team.

  2. I’m just being picky here but PTO stands for professional tryout, not personal tryout. Doesn’t really matter just thought I’d point it out

  3. 6:27 if you’re paying $9 million for a defensemen, I want someone on par with Cale Makar. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think Nurse is a bad defensemen, he just isn’t a $9 million worth

  4. Oil are on their way, they are just too good up front. average .5 GA less and we are looking pretty good

  5. What the Oilers need is to make a 3 team trade with the Flyers to bring the hometown kid back home (Carter Hart)…

  6. Yeah if edmontonians eased off a bit there players would have a little more in the tank at at playoff time.

  7. WOODCROFT failed by not putting in Campbell in the playoffs his goalies switched energy basically and he didn’t notice that. Skinner was so/so in the playoffs he made a rookies coaching mistake by not okaying the hottest goalie period. The goal should be earned night by night in the playoffs. I said if they play Campbell we win and we did. If they okayed skinner (don’t forget he’s a rookie) we would lose. Goalies are like horses you played the strongest one WOODCROFT better have learned that lesson.

  8. If they get through Vegas and Colorado, then i can see this team winning the cup.

  9. i will always always cheer for the oilers, i have nothing but FAITH for this team to get a cup IF our defense is better and hopefully the goalies are now trained a bit better. when we got ekholm and seeing the games with him on the ice i couldnt believe it. dude is one of my favorite's and ive been looking too get a jersey

  10. So I am a realist. The team needs to still lose in a final before winning. Once guys like Bouchard and McLeod have a few more years under their belt this team will have a basically 2 cores going.

Skinner, McLeod, Broberg, Holloway are all guys taking up roster spots that could be filled with long term players, If for example it was Drai and McDavids last season of their contracts. But this team is still growing and maturing whether people want to admit it or not.

Micheal Jordan did not win a championship until he was 30. McDavid is has not reached his peak and we are bursting with youth. 3-5 years from now if we can some how keep 90% of the team together we will be looking back at them like we do the Lighting.

  11. Kostin the (Russian)is a huge loss. I will hold a grudge forever on Woodcroft, the (Ukrainian) for not giving Kostin an honest chance. What a petty a$$hole.

  12. I think they win the division and then get massacred second round of the playoffs

  13. As an Oilers fan, I have been very critical of the Oilers. Even last year, I was critical of the defence and goaltending.
This year does feel different though. We will have Ekholm for a full season this year. Bouchard will gain a lot of experience from him. I think Kulak and Ceci will return to their steady defensive form. Skinner will have more experience and Campbell won’t have the “new team jitters” that he obviously had last season.
The addition of Connor Brown in my opinion will pay off a lot. And that mean glare that McDavid and Draisaitl have and you can just see the determination that they have.
I think they will again have the best offence and powerplay in the NHL this season. The defence and PK will also tighten into top 10 numbers. This team is a lot more balanced than a lot of naysayers seem to think.
I say this year they will win both the President’s Trophy and the Stanley Cup.

  14. good look at this season. i think you will be surprised and the bottom 6 lines compared to what you have so far .

  15. I don't anticipate the Oilers winning the cup in '24. There simply are too many question marks. One weakness that often gets overlooked is their 5 on 5 play. I went back and analyzed the goals scored in round 2 of the '23 playoffs, the Oilers vs. Vegas. Vegas outscored the Oilers in the 6 game series 22 to 19, so that was fairly even. The Oiler pp was blistering, scoring 9 goals. But 5 on 5, Vegas obliterated the Oilers, outscoring them a staggering 18-10. The Oiler 5 on 5 play really needs to improve if they are to win the cup.

  16. Can’t be completely sure that they’ll win this season but the next few season. I can definitely see them getting to the finals.

  17. McDavid should’ve asked for a trade because NOTHING has been done to improve this team and the same old stuff will happen next spring.👎🏾

  18. You are out to lunch. The Oilers will have trouble making the Playoffs this year. I suspect they will stumble and fall. Injuries happen when you play hard nosed hockey and the Oilers have now graduated to hard nosed tough hockey and this will start in Game #1 which means injuries will be a concern this year moreso than most….Teams have now seen over 2 years of evidenced based videos that the Oilers CAN be beaten if you forget puck seperation and follow through on your hits and target their Superstars so IMHO opponents will be severely leaning on Leon and Evander and Zack and Nuge……its not about fighting it just about making sure you transfer your energy into their bodies over a full 60 minutes. This projects to be a wear and tear year and I see a series of major injuries de-railing the entire Season as the Players try to not make excuses and flounder. Kane will never be Kane again he has lost his finish in his hands…and hes going to be a penalty machine because he cannot return to his past level of play and glory. Hyman will have to pick up Kanes slack.Holland will not make the sacrifices required to bring in a top 5 Goalie so the future is dimly lit, and the Soup and Stew sideshow will have to continue ,unless Campbell hits his stride and puts Skinner back in his place as I expect him to do until he to gets injured late after carrying the ball all year long and Skinner is put under massive pressure again.Tis what it tis.

  19. Getting eliminated by the eventual cup champs 2 years in a row kinda softens the blow a bit in my opinion. The boys are RIGHT THERE, just need to iron out the wrinkles
