Classis hockey! I remember this game intentisly. Grade 9 I was in. Connor scoring on broken play. Habs winning cup one of only things went right for me that year. 1979 I had a hard year.
Cam Conner ironically didn't get his name on the Cup that year, because he had insufficieni minutes pkayed under the rules of that time in spote of this pivotal goal against the Leafs. This was the same year as the "too many men on the ice" penalty goal that helped sink the Bruins against Habs in game seven of the semi-final. My Sis and I were in the old Forum at Atwater and St. Catherine in Montreal watching Habs clinch the Cup in game seven of the final against a Ranger team coached by Fred Shero. Centerman Jaques Lemaire scired the winner in the 4 to 1 Cup clincher.
Even knowing how it would end, it still hurt to see that OT puck go in. Most exciting Leafs team in my lifetime (the Gilmour crew being a close second), but not a candle's breath compared to that indomitable Lafleur dynasty. Those were, indeed, The Days.
This brand of hockey thankfully has passed. The goalies in this era were terrible . I know some people like this old time hockey but frankly it was terrible. Today’s hockey is so much faster and the skill is transcendent compared to what is on this video. Even the fights were bad. Glad the game has progressed. It needed to.
how could these announcers not even notice that he actually lost the puck of his stick and did not even fan on a shot. MacFarlane I thought was better than that. Bill Hewitt still THE BEST
Lifelong Montreal fan butI always felt that Dryden was overrated. I wished the Habs could have snaged Bernie Parent. The Leafs had their chance but they blew it!
I love how the linemen get in to stop the fights before they start. Fighting shouldn't be allowed to be "part" of the game. If it happens, it happens, but don't stand by and wait for it.
Watched the original six on black and white TV.. Habs fan since 1950’s… Hated the Leafs with a passion but respected Bauer, Keon, later Gilmore ( the only Leaf who played with guts when the entire rest of the team quit like whipped little girls )… now they are just OVERPAID athletes with no loyalty. Domi had testicles though.. Clarke…In these modern times darn near died laughing watching the bottom of the ladder Habs knock them out of the playoffs a couple of years ago…. and NO, Habs aren’t what they used to be… BUT I HAVE HAD THE GREAT PLEASURE OF WATCHING MY FAVOURITE TEAM HOIST STANLEY 14 TIMES! You??? GO MONTREAL!!!
Habs win game 4 as well in OT. Robinson winner with Williams in the box. Bad call by the official and Habs go on to beat the Rangers for the STANLEY CUP !!!!

Good memories!
I loved Palmateer, what competitor.
AS ALWAYs hey! Go Habsters!!
Proper Hockey I miss it😏still enjoy todays NHL now and again, but bad teams can beat good ones more often today by playing anti-hockey!
C était l bon vieux temps ça me manque ces games là.
That was a tough loss
I was 11 years old.
I remember this game on TV
Watch out 0:45
I remember watching tiger Williams fighting…or I should he’d hug whomever he was fighting whilst his opponent would try to punch him.

Back then we knew ALL OF THE PLAYERS. Made for an exciting evening. Today (WHO IS THAT??)
Never gets old, I will say the Leaf team of this era had ten times more heart then the present Leaf team.
3:50 – you just don't want to go with Serge Savard. The guy is big and tough.
This is hockey at it's finest. I was 13 at the time, growing up in Montreal a huge Habs fan, and still gives me goosebumps all these years later.
Turdbull caused the Leafs to lose.
Tranna bums
After watching this I realize that it’s not my imagination, NHL hockey of that era was much more interesting than what goes on today.
Go habs go the best
My god,how did Palmateer ever make a single save??? He looked like he was having some kind of seizure every time the puck came near him!!!
Serge Savard , pretending to fight tiger Williams 😂 . Now that's a highlight❤
What a shit OT goal 😂
The arena announcer was the best. Not the rubbish we have to endure today. Amateur hour.
Chartraw toughest guy in the league at the time
Toronto had one hell of a team back then…… their only problem…..meeting Montreal every playoffs…
44 years later and the loafs STILL haven't beaten the Habs in the playoffs and STILL haven't made the finals lol!
selfish play by Turnbull trying to be a forward.
Great uploads!! Thank you so much, very much appreciated! @vindiggs
Btw do u have any home leaf games from '92-94?
It was such dirty, sloppy hockey back then
This was the best back then

I miss 70's hockey
The greatest hockey team in the world, the Montreal Canadiens, !! GO HABS GO !!
I would give it all to go back to those days
I'm pretty sure that Leafs team can beat the current leafs team no problems ….
Even though most of them are in their 70's by now
