I don't see Babcock lasting long. I remember when he was at Toronto badgering a young Mitch Marner into outing a player he felt wasn't working hard enough (I think the player was Kadri). That kind of behavior is unacceptable, and you have to wonder why he was hired in the first place.

IF the Babcock story is correct (big if) he's learnt nothing. Guys like him and Sutter don't seem to realize you can be old-school, even hardass without being a toxic asshole. It's one thing to push players hard physically/mentally, and show you reward hard work/discipline…it's another to play mind games, turn teammates against each other, make constant power moves, and be randomly punitive.

The Babcock controversy sounds like BS, listen to Johnny Gaudreau's take on 32 Thoughts. If it wasn't Babcock, wouldn't even be a story. I get Shannon's take, even agree with him in general, but it sounds like this was an innocent exercise in team building more than a manager power play. I suspect a player wanted to put him on notice based on his reputation.
