A typical Oilers fan doesn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground, so good luck teaching them correlation vs causation.
This McDavid-era Oilers team, from the HBO-style mini docs with all the cameras pointed at their team/GM to their homer play-by-play man gloating about the 4-1 series win during the broadcast last night… it just absolutely screams of an arrogant and cringeworthy hubris that is going to haunt them forever if they can’t get the job done with one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
And I’m absolutely here for it.

Best part is I called this when they drafted him and the oiler friends I have got so mad, I said just wait! And here we are, still waiting for them to do anything lol.
They really need to be careful what they say. Their two stars could just as easily be out the door if they don’t win a cup in the next two years. And based on how their roster has had the same problems since McDavid got there, I highly doubt they will.
