  1. I just don’t get it. For over a decade, I’ve said Peter Chiarelli is the worst GM in the history of Hockey. Who in their right mind would let him in the door?

  2. Peter Chiarelli and Jim Benning were the Bruins moles. Both of them destroyed legitimate teams in the opposing divisions to keep the Bruins relevant.

  3. Adding to the Sens Front Office is never a bad thing.. With Steve Staois joining, likely adding Chiarelli and Mathieu Darche – anything to help Dorion is not a bad thing. Dorion and Asst GM Bowness need help – so this is a good thing!!

  4. um, well EDM got Connor Brown, also a former Erie teammate of McDavids, like Strome and Spooner… Let's see how this works out. I'm very pessimistic about any former Erie teammates coming over…

  5. As an Oiler fan he was beyond bad at trades, like just horrendous. His FA signings were a bit better but still bad. His drafting though, very good. So if hes just in the drafting area that should be fine.

  6. Honestly the Hall trade became somewhat less egregious over time and I think JH is overvaluing him abit. Did it submarine the franchise? Not especially. Hall was already cratering in EDM when they traded him. His final two seasons there did not meet expectations and while the return is terrible (but not as bad as we think) Hall literally played great hockey for 12 months after that before he started fading again. Larsson was basically just Larsson the whole time.

  7. Lol, You really know how to make an Oiler fan mad, lol. Chiarelli was just an American fan designed to screw up a Canadian market.

  8. You didn’t even mention him trading seguin out of Boston

  9. The hockey world is way to political and it's not WHAT you know, its WHO you know… ABSENT OWNERS Need to look outside the office and box of YES MEN, and get some really hockey knowledgeable people… Johnny you could get a nice consulting job with your skill set !!!!!

  10. I got a pit in my stomach when you said he was joining a new team, thankfully I don't cheer for Ottawa

  11. One thing to keep in mind is when Chia signed Drai he was lambasted 1,000x over for how big of an overpay it was. Everybody said “he can’t play without mcdavid.” Lots of us oiler fans knew what we had and were pretty pleased, but the chia praise for Drai is 20/20 hindsight, whereas the other callouts you made we KNEW were terrible at the time, and to this day are still terrible.

  12. I don't fault Chiarelli for the Hall / Larsson trade. Rumor is that Hall was traded for off ice reasons. Larsson was a solid performer for the Oilers and the team was desperate for defence. The Eberle trade was bad because there was no reason to trade Eberle (a reliable 20 goal scorer) even though his playoff performance was sort of soft. Chiarelli's third worse move (after the trade for Griffin Reinhart, and the Lucic contract) was the contract for Mikko Koskinen. Koskinen was a serviceable goalie, but the 3 year for $13.5 M contract was too much given the lack of NHL track record. Chiarelli was abruptly fired about 24 hours later.

  13. Devil’s advocate here, Chiarelli is from Ottawa and started his professional hockey career with the Senators in ‘99. This is just a homecoming if anything.

I do not mind the new ownership group filling out Ottawa’s bare bones front office with hockey minded people. Chiarelli 😂isn’t going to be the one pulling the trigger on trades or signings. He is just going to be one voice of many as the team starts to become competitive.

  14. No i disagree. Larsson was a better Oiler than Hall. Hall had that one great year for Devils and disappeared. Larsson has been consistently good, even last year for the Kraken.
Lucic signing and Reinhart trade were terrible but he was also the guy that signed Draisaitl for 8.5, traded for Talbot and traded for Maroon

  15. I think you forgot that Hall and McDavid didn't quite get along when Connor joined the league.

  16. Giving up a first and a second for Griffin Reinhart was one of his worst moves. The Hall and Lucic moves are bad in hindsight but at the time they seemed like they were necessary. It also seemed to work that first year. They made it to game seven of the second round after a decade of missing the playoffs. Hall had been seen as bad for the locker room and Lucic was okay that first year and Larson was also good. It was after that playoff run that things went sideways. He lost his two main puck-moving d-men to injury (Klefbom and Sekera) and he wasn't able to replace them. Combine that with Lucic's play falling off and the Oilers sank. All his moves after that were desperation moves to save his job.

  17. im tired of the nhl overall and how they just keep cycling the same guys around the league when there could be better candidates in other leagues.

  18. I can believe it. There seems to be a certain cadre of people who for some reason, just can't seem to do wrong in the eyes of the broader NHL management fraternity even though in some cases, wrong is all they've ever done. Chiarelli is in that group. Ever since we got rid of him, I've been regularly hearing his name pop up in relation to this team or that. I think like – "are all you people mentally ill or something??!!" "Like what are you; f*cking blind or just an idiot?"

But, he seems to have this Midas touch where some people think he's a genius. I'll never understand it but, whatever. I'd just prefer that if he is going to get hired to manage a team, that it's a team in our division…. like Calgary, for example.

  19. Yeah when they traded Eberle back in the day I couldn’t understand why we got rid of him. Was a big fan, glad he’s doing well in Seattle.

  20. My gut tells me Hall was toxic in the dressing room / brought more unprofessional vibes than good ones

  21. Figures as soon as the sens become some what relevant again they go an hire this pigeon…i truly wish you luck ottawa.

  22. Hall was know in Edmonton for being an absolute shit head the city didn’t like him very much beyond the thots who wanted to have sex with him. Hahaha

  23. Besides L.D. getting signed for 8 years (which I will admit as a Oilers fan I was VERY skeptical about and most of us were.) His best deal was getting Cam Talbot. I still think he should have been given some more time. But whatever… That was a good trade. P.C. did nothing else but nearly extend the decade of darkness. And honestly P.C. should have been fired before Todd McClellan.

  24. Can you stop with these clickbait titles and actually try to be a little more informative? You have decent content, don’t need that shady strategy to get views.
