1. I was out for a walk in the rain, and hadn't heard of this trade yet. Good thing I checked THG for the update. Thanks, Shannon!

  2. Solid low risk trade for Vancouver. I like desmith and think he can be relied on as a backup. Getting under the cap is big

  3. Wow some literacy from management. About time we had competent people running this organization.

  4. Kent Hughes continues to be good to his players; trades then when he promises them he would.

  5. Casey DeSmith should be Happy! A lot Longer DISC GOLF Season and a lot Better Disc Golf Courses in B.C. vs. Quebec.

  6. Great job by Montreal, I like Pearson and they get a pick out of it to, and this essentially gets tacked onto their return for Hoffman and Rem Pitlick

  7. That third round pick was just to remind Pearson that this is the 3rd time Rutherford has traded him.

  8. Montréal had 4 #2 goalies : #35 Samuel Montambault, #34 Jake Allen, #? Casey De Smith and #30 Cayden Primeau Their #31Carey Price is Injured for the rest of his career.

  9. Rutherford wasn't impressed with Pearson in Pittsburgh and dealt him quickly in 2019. I knew he'd be traded soon … but not this soon. Great to see him move to Montreal & I hope Pearson does well there. I liked him but I could see he wasn't the right fit for management's vision.

  10. I think Montreal won this trade, but I think it is close enough that I'm happy the Canucks didn't have to give up more to get under the cap.

  11. This is white glove robbery. 2025 will be a great draft year. A Cunucks third round pick might be in front of the bus. I don't have confidence in Cunucks future.
    👍🏻 Habs 👍🏻

  12. pearson was not in the plan for the team going forward no matter what happened with his injury. Glad to see him get a chance to play with another team. We still have moves to make to make the team better but slowly and surely we are getting rid of the players that have no future here with the team.

  13. I like DeSmith. A very capable backup. I wish TB could have fit him in under cap, but good for DeSmith.

  14. Good work by Allvin. Solved 2 problems with 1 deal. With Poolman (2.5) on LTIR they will be cap compliant and DeSmith is a serviceable back up on a reasonable contract (1.8) with only 1 year remaining.

  15. To get rid of that entire cap hit of Pearson and get a solid back-up goalie for just a 3rd round pick is a great deal for the 'Nucks and Montreal loses nothing of real value either whilst getting a decent forward if he's healthy. I haven't checked the cap situation in Montreal but that helps keep them above the cap floor too if they needed that. Win win trade

  16. Thank god we got rid of tanner, goodbye you won't be missed, thanks for the over priced cap hit and bottom six production. Finally the canucks are trying to fix the cap

  17. so at the end of the day, the Habs traded Hoffman and Pitlick ($5.6M) and $2.3M retained salary, for
a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pick, Pearson ($3.3M) and some AHL depth (Legare and Lindstrom)

    Did I get that correct?
So it basically boils down to Hoffman and Pitlick for Pearson and 3 picks.

  18. I was waiting for DeSmith to really battle Jarry in a 1a-1b hot hand. He makes some great saves, but then will be out of position for an easier goal, a solid backup, used to close games.

  19. People don’t want to admit it but this is the deepest Canucks team since the Sedins Era. Canucks will surprise some folks this upcoming season

  20. I can't believe anyone took Pearson given he has not played a game after his hand surgery.

  21. As a suffering Canucks fan, I've liked Pearson for a long time, but if the trade had to be done, I get it.

  22. NO! I've always liked DeSmith. I don't care what anyone says.

    I hate my favorite team.

  23. For an even trade you should wear one team's sweater and the other team's hat! Love your work The Hockey Guy!

  24. Good RIDDANCE, DayOfSmith!!!

He was upset about being traded to us Habs.

Enjoy the rubber fire of Vancouver.
