@Canucks de Vancouver

After Pearson is traded with 50% retention.. I want to see the Petry trade tree.

  2. Solid trade, Pearson brings a depth player we don't have, 2-way checkers always help. I know Hughes isn't done though, this team is going to move and shake with all the assets and at least 6 roster players leaving in the next year or two, I just love watching good management that thinks outside the box.

  3. its basically a second in 2025, a third in 2025, conditional 4th in 2025 and some meh for Hoffman, Pitlick. can't complain at all.

  4. Watched Pearson play for the Barrie Colts (OHL) when I was a kid. Good guy overall

  5. My only problem with this trade is that now it looks very unlikely they can start the year without Price on LTIR which has implications for cap in future. Call your lawyer she will explain it to you 🙂

  6. Didnt we need to lose money not add to be able to put Price contract on LTIR during season

  7. Imo this is an Opray Winfrey show kinda trade, Everyone gets a W. Mtl, Van, Pearson, DeSmith all checked under their seats and found a nice free W.

  8. No win or lose in the trade, Hughes moved DeSmith as promised. Vancouver gets some goaltending depth, Montreal gets a 3rd round pick and a project for their new medical staff. So, to recap, Montreal takes on Pearson's contract, Lindstrom's contract and retains 50% of Petry's contract to get rid of Hoffman and Pitlick wanted out. Oh and they get other draft picks too. Ummmm, whatever.

  9. win win…..Desmith gone and Pearson and 3rd round pick….in bound…..Pearson here for only a year and another pick in the draft pool.. Pearson is just a rental and gone by trade deadline

  10. It's a big confidence booster for Montembeault and Allen. That's the best thing about this deal.

  11. A very even trade I'd say without any winners and losers

  12. WoW, what a trade. A 3rd round and an expiring contract. Just WoW. Kent turns our cap space in assets like a God. The word around was a 6th or 7th for Desmith, and abracadabra Kent makes 3rd appear.

  13. Your reaction was the same as mine. None of the rookie forwards stood out enough to be able to make the jump to the big team.

  14. Hughes keeps a milking that Erik Karlsson move which he had no business being involved …That is genius bird dogging …Love it !!

  15. You got a 3rd round pick plus a possible 3rd or 2nd round pick at this coming trade deadline for a Goalie that we were never going to use anyway.. and all we are doing is eating cap room when we don't need it. win for the Habs.

  16. I’m a Nucks fan and I like this for both teams. I don’t like giving up a 3rd rounder for cap space but I guess we all have to thank Benning for that. Best of luck Pearson. He’s a solid pickup.

  17. Given the choice as to who to play between Pearson and Armia……taking Pearson every time. Puts up better number than Armia has.

So out, goes Hoffman, @ $4.5m

    In comes 3rd, 4th, Pearson @$3.25mil, Lindstrom @ $950000, Legare @$789000

Anyone think we would get 2 draft picks and 3 players for Hoffman? And only be a half million difference on the cap?

  18. I sharpened Tanner's skates and cut sticks for him sometime around the end of June or start of July. Chatted with him for a bit & he mentioned that he was trying out a new curve on those sticks. He must've been healthy enough to start properly testing them out at that point. Unless he still has a bit of rehabbing to do, it seems to me like he'll probably be good to go at the start of the season.

  19. Very good trade ! Tanner Pearson will be great on the third or fourth line , will also have good value at the deadline
