Letting nic deslauriers go was a mistake without replacing his "enforcer" status. Bunch of young flashy kids, we needed and still need that role. Gudas helps alil there. I still can not get over Carlson over Fantilli. Everyone who wants to defend the move trys to tell me SHL is good, he's smart and big, it'll be fine. He's smart yes, not a natural shooter, not fast, big but doesn't play to his size kinda like Dustin Penner. Only time will tell but Fantilli play bigger and meaner then Leo now. Played cute n fast at draft and now playin cute w our future stars. Def has me concerned, Go Ducks

  2. Beginning Rant
Obviously I have my biases but I do think that ranking is a little too low. You're right! Of the ~11,000 that have voted, how many have gone through multiple lean years? How many have witness the Ducks trading Teemu Selanne out for Jeff Friesen and Steve Shields? How many have seen Stanislav Chistov and Alexei Smirnov under-deliver? We are so spoiled sometimes so say that Pat Verbeek hasn't done more than people demand from him. Do fans want this team to turn into the West Coast version of the New York Rangers, a team drafted 1st and 2nd overall in consecutive draft years and then rushed their rebuild? How long did it take for the Detroit Red Wings of the 80s to go from a joke to an Empire that lasted for a 1/4 century? I would give Verbeek a B grade overall with the job he's done so far. The fact that people are expecting him to make magic out of nothing is absolutely unrealistic. Verbeek wasn't the GM when this team was in the middle of a rebuild. He was the GM when the team began the rebuild and he's done a good job stocking up on draft capital so far. To me, he is exactly what this team needs right now. A plan and a vision as well as commitment to it. Rome wasn't built overnight.
    End rant

  3. I know they’re getting signed but they’re still the thought in the back of my head I think they’re not, and it’s stressing me out so much

  4. I’m happy with the coaching decision and am hopeful… but I agree with your assessment 😅

  5. Some GM's like to wait until the last minute. I am sure the deals will get done. I just wonder if the situation is the players are asking for a lot more than their fair market value or if Verbeek is being stingy. If this keeps dragging, I wonder if there is a chance other GM's start thinking maybe, it is their time to throw in an offer sheet. Jerk move and all that would still make things interesting.

  6. As a Hawks fan i would be worried this happened to a few of the hawks prospects back in the day or it was trade the day they became UFA. Z is still on the east coast playing beer league games and while as guys make there way back to teams to get to know some of their new team mates as leaders like the hawks have seen seth jones, connor bedard, cole guttman, corry perry all show up to morning skates yesterday. For Z as leader of this franchise concerns me to say the least. If it's not done by camp its likely not getting done statisicly speaking.

  7. We only have $18.7 million in cap. Space we don’t have the most cap space. And that’s without signing Zegras and Drysdale.

  8. I don’t wanna be a jerk with my comments, so I deleted my comment I’m not on the same page with you on Killorm and Gudas I don’t know what’s going on with Verbeek and I’m trying to be nice about that. I’ve been watching all his old videos to see who this guy really is. He seems to want to be the big guy with a big guy in the room to show whose boss I thought we just got rid of that kind of person in Murray. The guy seems to have Napoleon syndrome.

  9. I expected Z's contract to be a pain. His potential + ego is a gm's nightmare. But I'm definitely concerned there isn't a deal with Drysdale yet.

  10. Not having Zegras signed, I'm sure brought those grades down. Your best players have to be a top priority, and not getting those deals done is seen as mismanagement. Not just with the Ducks but any team. Most teams though have the excuse of not having enough cap space, but since the Ducks have tons, that has to count against the GM too. I think other GMs like Tom Fitzgerald could have gotten Zegras, Terry and Drysdale done before August 1. And yes I am bias as Devils fan but I want to see Ducks finish these deals and get ready for the season to start. Once Jack heads to NJ, Zegras is gonna be lonely.
