This is basically him saying unless Stamkos takes a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) discount, we’ll suffer, but we will have to part ways

I will be massively disappointed and upset with our front office if they don’t re-sign Stamkos. I truly don’t care what it takes to get it done, he deserves to retire in a Lightning sweater.
That being said, I think JBB will get a deal done, but I’m not pleased with the lack of communication. Do better for Stammer.
Also, the reactionaries on Twitter and r/hockey are hilarious. Here we go again lol.

I think his view is pretty reasonable, seems a lot of this frenzy could’ve been avoided if he just talked to him during the summer.

Great response.

personally, I think this is flawlessly clear.. they both know and acknowledge what they want and what their goals are.. seeing how changes made end of last year and this coming season play out is the only honest answer here.. basically, we’ll see, calm the fuck down.. goodness, everyone hates a little uncertainty.. lol..

One of the issues hanstringing us (and most sucessful teams) is that you have a small number of top player chewing up the lions share of the cap space. Then you can’t afford to keep high quality depth players who are become worth more (Palat, Colton, Killer, etc…). I think there’s 100% appetite to keep Cap’n here but if he’s looking for the Matthews’ contract, that will be the problem. If he’s at least willing to stay at current levels, I see him getting re-upped long term.
