  1. This guy was a hero to me growing up. He will always be my favourite Oiler. The 39; the jersey tucked in the back. Dougie was a superhero to Oiler fans in my age demographic.

  2. Congratulations @Doug Weight , you deserve the spot. Oiler Nation remembers you Well. Go Oilers!!!

  3. Thank Glen Sather for bringing him here for Messier etc!
Greatest American player ever for us imo ..and true leader of the 90’s Oilers!

  4. My favourite player growing up, loved those hard working teams in the 90’s!

  5. I met Doug on two occasions. On both he bought me a beer but the classiest thing about him was that he actually would sit down with you and drink it with you. Just a normal conversation. Super classy guy.

  6. He could literally dance with the puck, the passion of the fans with him on the team were great times.

  7. I remember the tail end of the dynasty days and then the hard and heartbreaking ones of the early to mid 90s. I really enjoyed Doug’s time in Edmonton and especially that surprising upset against Dallas in ‘97.

  8. Doug Weight was all class, and he was a true Oiler. I remember John Short on the radio saying Doug Weight was willing to take less to stay with Edmonton, but the NHLPA told him you can't as it could hurt player salaries. Weight was crushed, leaving Edmonton. If they had a salary cap back, then I'm sure Weight would have played here his entire career or close to.

  9. I’ve seen the 80’s Oilers and the current team but that 90’s Doug Weight team was awesome. Whenever the Oil really needed a goal and he and Smitty came out it was like there was no stopping them. I loved those years and Weight was as good a leader as any, except maybe Mess but damn close.

  10. One of the memories I have about Doug is from when I was working at The Drink Restaurant and Bar. It was the night that NJ stopped the Oil’s win record and a bunch of the players came out since it was his B-Day. I remember him walking around with 6 beers in his hands since so many were buying him one. It was one of the funniest things I saw

  11. It was bittersweet (far more bitter than sweet, mind you) when the Oil lost to the Canes because he was able to win a Cup. It was really too bad that he was injured and couldn't lift the Cup with the zeal you know he wanted to.

  12. Doug Weight is easily one of my favourite Oilers of all time. The passion he had on the ice was incredible. I wish we could have hung onto this guy for a few years more.

  13. Anyone else notice that Doug adjusted the camera at the beginning to remove the Sharks logo?!? Lol what a legend. Loved you in oilers silks dougler!!
