For those without a subscription here’s some noteworthy quotes:

    > “Yeah,” said fellow Swiss forward Timo Meier when asked if Hischier has a legitimate Selke chance this season. Nico showed last year what kind of player he is. He’s still improving. The sky’s the limit. He comes in every day and works his game. I’m excited to keep going out there and get better every day and see where it’s going to take him. I’m so excited to be on a team with him. He’s not just a great hockey player, he’s a great human.”

    > If Jonas Siegenthaler’s prediction turns out to be true, Hischier could run away with the award by mid season. The Devils defenseman, who trained with Hischier briefly in Switzerland this summer, says his teammate will progress to “another level” this year.

    > As he gushed about Hischier from his locker stall on Thursday, Siegenthaler compared him to the black Swiss Army knife seated to his left.

    > “Last year, he proved it again: He’s one of the top centermen in the league,” Siegenthaler said. “He plays a 200-foot game really well. This year, the ceiling is pretty high. I think he has another level to go up.

    > “He’s a Swiss Army Knife. That’s kind of in our culture as well in Switzerland. We’re here to work hard.”

Nico is +500 to win it, the next closest is a few guys at +1000. He’s a pretty big favorite in terms of the Vegas line.

Yes, he’s the favorite. Obviously the season has to be played, but as of right now it’d be hard to say he’s not the favorite.
