Every trade is just so different that it's hard to say. It depends of where the team is in regards of being contenders and the quality of the player coming back. Buffalo could afford to deal with picks but the Leafs are kind of win now mode just like Vegas were. Are you getting some equal to Tuch or someone a bit better or worse? The possibilities are endless till we start throwing deals out.
Heres a couple to start the argument 😂. Pesce for Nylander straight up. I know, where you going to get the money to sign him if they can't Nylander. This isn't a question about money, I'ts about not having enough to sign defensemen. Take Nylander's 40 away, save maybe 20 with Pesce. Knies, Domi and Bertuzzi should be able to make the numbers go their way……
They can't make a Jack Eichel trade because Buffalo traded for futures. Toronto wants to win now. So Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs a first and a second. Tuch was a 20 goal 50 point player where he was. That won't be enough for the Leafs. He was 25 at the time of the trade. They will want something similar. Maybe a very good D man and 50 point forward and maybe a first?
OLeafs are also capable and likely to pay him more than anyone else will, so maybe they won't lose him.

Eichel >>>> Nylander. 1st line championship defensively sound center vs 2nd line also ran winger that's a defensive liability. Eichel outproduces Nylander both in the regular season and playoffs. Not saying Nylander isn't a good hockey player, just saying he's not worthy of an Eichel type return…or contract. That will be particularly true after Nylander gets a raise on his next contract.
It means Nylander is going back to Sweden and stop playing in the NHL

I’d say no way they’d get the same deal since Eichel was signed with term and Nylander is a pending FA. If Nylander comes with an extension then I’d value them about the same, yes.
