@Blackhawks de Chicago

    I think a top-5, at least a top-7 pick, should be expected

  2. Bears9Titles

I’m excited but still feeling bad knowing the hope for the playoffs will be gone before January. I think they have it marked well

  3. CousinCleetus24

Not sure what you mean? People are very excited about Bedard and watching the young players come up but they’re going to be very bad again(which is fine). Seems pretty accurate.

  4. Beaver_Tuxedo

I’d be shocked if we’re any better than 3rd worst in the league

  5. 87fost

Nah its pretty accurate, we’re gonna be bad but it should still be a fun season.

  6. Touchy-Whales

Defense and goaltending are going to struggle a lot still especially with the amount of rookie D we might play on a nightly basis.

Also I think the potential offensive weapons we have this year compared to last will lead us take more risks to try to score. That’ll open us up to the counterattack. Last year I felt we were fairly conservative in our play which is why we fell in so many one goal games. Look for more excitement on both ends this year!

Agreed with this. The Hawks will be bad but I am excited.

  8. TheOlSneakyPete

This is exactly where I expect us to be. Flyers fans seem way to optimistic. I’d expect a top 5 pick.

I’m a transplant from Toronto so I’m really a Leafs fan, and they are 100% accurate on the Leafs thing. I think its close for the Hawks – but i mean your team is built on surprises and miracles anyway so I feel like anything is possible. I do know that Connor is a joy to watch even at practices right now. I hope you guys do really well (except when up against the Leafs)

we got corey perry. we’re gonna lose in the SCF

  11. guyincognito121

I assume that the title is poorly constructed and that the x-axis is supposed to represent how we feel while the y-axis represents the expected team performance.

  12. Euripidoze

Looks spot on to me. Watching Bedard will be exciting but they will stink to high heaven

  13. Grouchy_Old_GenXer

    That’s damn accurate imo.

  14. HockeyDad1981

I live in Ontario but have tickets to Black Friday in Chicago and the game in Buffalo. Damn right I am excited!

  15. DiamondBurInTheRough

We’re gonna be bad. Bedard is a huge leg up in our rebuild but we’re still a few years out from being competitive. Projections have us finishing at the bottom of the west.

Also we have Hall so we’re getting the 1OA next year. Sorry not sorry.

  16. randyrandomagnum

Expect a bottom 5 finish this year. They’ll be bad but we’ll have some fun along the way.

  17. cerevisiae_

I’m excited for the hawks 1st line, Reichel, and any prospects if/when they play a few games.

I’m not excited for the rest of the team.

  18. Dude_McNuggz

Fairly accurate. I think we will have a more exciting year than the past couple years, but it will probably still be bad.

  19. dishonourableprince

I expect a bottom 10 finish at least with a hopeful bottom 5 for good chances at landing Macklin Celebrini. Bedard is the main story heading into the season which will keep enthusiasm alive but this team still sucks and the shallow back end along with goaltending will be what sinks the ship.

This is a great place to be as a fan since there’s no stress of making the playoffs nor is there the stress of last season in tanking for the top pick. We’re gonna get to watch Bedard and Reichel sauce up the league for 82 games🔥

  20. Seems accurate to me, we’re gonna suck and that is by design because we want another top five pick this season haha Davidson intentionally has not explored building the team up quite yet because we are still very much focused on the future.

For reference, pretty much every model I have seen so far has us predicted to remain at the very bottom of the league:

    – [I used JFresh’s WAR roster builder and even with Bedard being a ~P/GP player, we are still looking at around 70 points at best and probably ending bottom 3-5 in the league](https://reddit.com/r/hawks/s/tXPTAvR0q1)

    – [DataDrivenHockey has us modeled at dead last](https://reddit.com/r/hockey/s/SKSFXlGfcK)

    – [The Athletic has us modeled at bottom three in the league, with their model being notably high on Bedard as an instant star](https://theathletic.com/4866955/2023/09/21/chicago-blackhawks-season-preview-2023-24/?source=user_shared_article)

Good teams generally don’t get the 1st overall pick.

  22. RockyB95

We’re going to be bad. Like really bad. But also really fun

  23. scheifferdoo

I feel like nervous and good is where the Oilers love to live. I love it too. It makes for such an anxiety inducing season that I kind of form a trauma bond with it and then I need it next year.

  24. Embarrassed_Day1613

Your right, this is absolutely wrong. This graph says that Arizona is just as good as Detroit or Boston. Like what???
