This loss really was the last straw for me this year, I find it very hard to want to go to a game now or even watch, so I'm gonna step back from being so invested in them, I'm in the boat that I'm over scheifele and I'm ready for them to package him. As well as wheeler has hit a wall and I don't think he should be playing top 6 minutes anymore. I understand that they want to get them going, but I like the idea of Dubois as top line center, with some combination of Kyle connor or ehlers on his wing.
This interview was worth another listen this morning.
I think a lot of the team's struggles can be laid at the feet of Paul Maurice for all the line shuffling. Throughout the history of his coaching, there are two lines that he's actually kept together for more than 5 games. These guys never know who they're playing with (unless you're Conner, Scheifele, Wheeler, and then there's a 50% chance you'll be on a line together, analytics be damned), they don't have time to build chemistry, and when they do find chemistry, Maurice shakes things up to get other guys going. So often when guys are carrying the puck (Ehlers, Scheifele), it's like they have no idea what they're supposed to do with it in the neutral zone, no idea when or how to enter the zone, and I think it's because they don't know what their linemates doing. Just find lines that work and stick with them, no matter where it puts people in the lineup. Give your players some reliable expectations for how to play together instead of making them adapt to new ways of playing throughout the entire season.

Oohh..the Jets have a solid identity alright; inconsistent play. I have no idea what is wrong with them right now but I find it interesting that the power outage seems to have happened right around the time that Wheeler and Scheifele came back. But what are you gonna do; stick those guys on the 4th line? That puts the coach in a terrible position. Regardless, if the Jets start losing guys like Dubois, Schmidt and Dillon, not to mention Ehlers and Copp, to keep a couple of guys happy, then the Jets organization will have made a major tactical error that could bite them in their collective rear-ends long term. I firmly believe that the 2021-22 jets are a legit cup contender, but they could be a sad sack team and I'd still be following them. I cancelled my Rogers and Sportsnet live streaming accounts last week and will tune in again once I know what Jets team is going to show up on any given night.
Epilogue: Dubois is the Man.
the fact that the Jets coaching staff would try so hard to accomadate Wheeler by finding a match by juggling the lines, shows that the Jets staff and management are trying hard to JUSTIFY giving him a 8mill contract. the juggling of lines is breaking up the consistency and the players are seeing this. The Wheeler situation has gone too far.
As much as I like Maurice I think the Jets may need to move on to someone who can motivate them because on paper they should be much much better and more consistent
so, let me guess what he said.

Paul Maurice should have been fired already. Going back a few years now this team has been nothing but mediocre. Good stretches but mostly mediocre.
Ehlers has still bin playing great
Great show. And bang on with Hammer's thoughts. I'm as diehard a Jets fan as it gets, but this is really getting to me because this downward spiral could have been prevented with keeping strong players together. And letting those who are coming back from illness to come back in a more gentle nature instead of going straight to the 1st row and expecting them to perform like they did back in 2018.
This is doing a huge disservice to Helle, Ehlers, PLD and the entire team, this prioritizing of the captain and assistant captain's dismal showing this season. It is also a big disservice to Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele because it doesn't give them any chance to slowly work their way onto one of the top lines.
I'm going to add that during the games when Scheifele scored his goals, he was not even playing with Wheeler… He was with Ehlers and Copp! Ehlers also scored when he was with that trio of Scheifele and Copp! Every single game! How is that line not together? Give them 10 games to get the chemistry fine-tuned! Since that line has been stopped? No goals from Scheifele! (Check the game summary of the games between November 5 and 19 on NHL app for evidence of this!) Lines matter! Also TOI between 55, 26 compared to the others is also mind boggling. 4th line gets 5 minutes of TOI the entire game! Wheels and Scheifele got over 22 minutes each! In spite of not scoring!
I like the coach but this is beyond comprehension, what he is doing! Put the lines back to where they were when we were winning games, Paul! You are destroying the team with this insistence that only Wheels and Scheifele matter!
