Idk if it’s a hot take but my bet is that we end up with the traditional top 6 either by the start of the season or a couple weeks in. Meaning:

    Bert – Matthews – Marner

    Knies – Tavares – Willy

I just don’t see this spread out strategy producing much offence.

Forward group looks solid minus Lafferty. He doesn’t actually do anything, just skates around so it looks like he’s busy.

Waiting patiently for u/TrelivingTheDream to bash Willy into oblivion for being in the lineup.

Man, if Robertson pans out to a capable winger, that is 3 lines where every single forward is absolutely legit (when Jarnkrok returns).

You could literally be talking about a top 9 where you have a 60 goal threat, 40 goal threat, two 30 goal threats, and five 20 goal threats (Bertuzzi, Domi, Robertson, Knies, Jarnkrok).

And Kampf on the 4th line, while he’s not good enough to be a 3C on a cup team, I consider him a premium 4th line C.

IF that can work, IF the Leafs can stay relatively healthy, that should leave the Leafs only one real target at the deadline, and that’s big physical D man.

    If you could have
    Rielly – Dead line acquisition
    Klingberg – McCabe

Suddenly you’re pushing Brodie down to the 3rd pairing. The Leafs may not have as much high end as other teams D, but it gives them 3 LEGIT pairings. It’s also not crazy to think that Timmins or Liljegren could finally take another step.

It has to be in their contracts or something, i dont understand how we’re still so committed to matthews and marner being on the same line.

Instead of just moving marner down to play with tavares and solving nearly all the issues, they move nylander to center. Just tell them theyre too good to play together and the team needs depth when that line doesnt produce in the playoffs. And i like the idea of domi being higher in the lineup, but its just stupid running tavares on line 3 defensive woes or not.

    Bertuzzi-Matthews-Nylander

    Knies-Tavares-Marner

Domi as 3c i dont really care who else you put here.
