Happy to see this — Monahan with Suzuki/Caufield is a great audition, and Dach being able to hold down his own line (either with RHP/Slaf or with some combination of them/Andy/Newhook) would make for a very solid top-six to build on this year.
We all know Monahan isn’t our solution at 2C on the long run anyways so I’m whelmed they’re not trying to make it work and instead giving the chance to the ones we’ve acquired.
Why don’t we ever give splitting up Suzuki and Caufield a shot. Keep them together for powerplays but 5 on 5 they give up too much unless they have a fantastic puck possession guy like Dach to drive play. Neither one is great at forechecking or defense, both are highly skilled at converting when they do have the puck, so it seems like a poor use of resources to keep them on a line.

Good to hear, I don’t hate if Dach ends up a top line winger but we’re much better set for the future if he’s one of our top 2 centremen. We still have some holes in our top 6 as of now but they aren’t at centre for once if Dach stays in the middle
Yah I agree with this. Development year means doing what might not get you results in the short term in order to build capacity to get long term results. Dach was traded for to be a center. They need to give him all opportunities to develop into that.

Exactly what preseason is for, hope they can end up splitting them long term as a Suzuki-Dach 1,2 punch as a centre core could be really nice to move forward with
