I think Jack was doing quite fine with his current diet post Smith

Pittsburgh made the move you have to make when you’re cash-strapped. They took a calculated risk and it didn’t pan out. That’s pro sports today.
On the flip side, Fitzy did EXACTLY what you have to do when you’re trying to break into the next tier of competition. Be aggressive in upgrading your core with established younger players, especially with assets you’re down on but still have value around the league.
Win-win at the time, but rarely does a move end up working out for both sides.

They can’t keep letting Tommy fitz get away with this

Salary cap has a way of making organizations look dumb sometimes.
This still doesn’t look as bad as Tampa letting Carter Verhaeghe walk to the Panthers for nothing though.

What a win that trade was

Always thought that Ty just needed a bit of an AHL stint. People forget his good year was in the bubble where he played the same 7 teams 8 times each. It’s easy to understand your opponents habits when you see them so often. Once we got back to a somewhat regular season he collapsed.

Devils have an opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.

The only thing I’m surprised about is how early in preseason it happened. Hope some team who is thin on D picks him up and he can get it together. Also, thank you Fitz for the Smith/Marino swap, wow.

damn i remember going into the pens sub after that trade and gassing him up bc i really did genuinely think he’d pan out as a solid offensive 5th-6th guy. 💀

Fitz has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever. (obviously I don’t think he actually should claim him, but to get the asset back « for free » is always an amusing idea.)

He didn’t even make it to the second game of preseason.

Watch him get picked up by the team again lol
