I think it is right. there is upside for sure, but it is currently problematic for wins.

I don’t remember who said this but I remember an analyst saying that it was unrealistic to expect all of our young D to take a next step, but he followed with saying it was also unrealistic to expected none of them to make it considering how many we have.
I think that’s a fair assessment of our defence right now. Fans, myself included, have a tendency to judge players for what they could be, and not for what they are right now.

I feel like thats the top 6 we’ll start the season with, with probably barron as our 7th guy but I feel like he’s the wild card. I dont think he played a lot thus far so I imagine we will see him a bunch for the rest of the pre-season and that will probably dictate if he bumps someone on the 3rd pairing, but I think that as of now, civic and harris have proven to be more reliable. The other ones in the discussion would be trudeau, mailloux and norlinder, will see if their play in the preseason steals them a spot on opening night roster

Xhekaj-Savard would be a rough pairing IMO.

I have yet to see Kovacevic play a bad hockey game.
By far the most under appreciated player on the team

Accurate assessment.

Funny enough if Norlinder keeps playing like he’s currently doing in camp he will also make himself part of the conversation for the future D core of the Habs… he’s been pretty good so far

Harris and Kovacevic deserve way more recognition.
