I like this but Jesus. Do we really need more defensemen?

    Hey Ducks fans,

Just wanted to pop in and give you a little bit of info on Lassi Thomson!

He’s a RHD with a really heavy shot. He has good enough skating to keep up at the NHL level, but won’t blow you away with it or anything. He can transition the puck well through the neutral zone and can find his teammates relatively well when passing.

That said, while he has been quite good at both ends of the ice at the AHL level, he’ll need to work on his defensive awareness at the NHL level. He had a bad giveaway that led to a goal against in his last pre-season game with the Sens. Just the most recent example.

He can likely fill in as a 6th or 7th defenceman on an NHL roster, and gives you some depth while you’re waiting for Drysdale to sign a contract. Overall, not a bad guy to take a gamble on when it comes to the waiver wire.

Wishing him all the best from Ottawa!

Good depth move. Particularly with the stalemate with Drysdale.

With this claim, the Ducks add another player that isn’t waiver-exempt, bringing that # to 7 on defense. This would likely mean someone would have to be waived if Lacombe/Zellweger are to make the lineup or when Drysdale signs.

    Non Waiver-exempt:
Fowler, Gudas, Hägg, Lyubushkin, Thomson, Vaakanainen, White
