Not worried about the loss, that was close to Chicago's opening night roster, Detroit played 6ish regulars.
Veleno scoring 2, and berggren playing well are my key takeaways.
Chairot's play is my last takeaway, but he'll be a point of contention all year for me.
He's clearly the 7th-8th best dmen, but the team and coaching staff love his intangibles.

I thought Perron and Copp looked pretty flat as well. The best defenders were clearly Johansson, Holl, Wallinder

The Chicago Bedards look solid.
Chiarot’s contract has turned out to be pretty bad. In the grand scheme of things it hasn’t hurt much so far, because the salary cap hasn’t been an issue and it’s not like he was holding amazing defensive prospects back.
He’s just been bad.
He’s a candidate for a straight cut after this season, but it’s possible they dump him to another team for some salary retention and “future considerations” as soon as they have a warm body to fill his spot on the roster.

Veleno after his second goal made a stupid move crosschecking in front of the referee. The play was up the ice and he had no reason to do that. Just stupid.
This was the chicago bedardhawks broadcast. Bedard did not have a good game, he has been embarrassing with how many mistakes and all the giveaways
I swear it's not my purpose to be hard on you guys, but you keep giving me reasons to be.
You bring up the advanced stats so much, and hardly ever say what your eyes will do. Were Holl and Chiarot actually as bad as your fancy stats indicate? Do you remember constantly watching them and seeing them as the problem? You said absolutely nothing about Perron, Copp, and Rasmussen. That was our top line they were probably our worst line. How much help did they get from Anisimov, Doucet and L'Esperance? Soderblom couldn't make a single play all night. Even Berggren's line couldn't clear pucks with any consistency. The wings had five shots on gold total in the last two periods. How much of that are you going to put on Holl and Chiarot? Are you going to give Ben any credit for the crisp outlet pass that led to the first goal?
I mean, you tried to play off the talk about him yesterday like it wasn't very serious, but I didn't believe you. It's been a narrative like months and all it takes is a little confirmation bias to strengthen it.
