Simon Edvinsson belongs on this team.
Actually pretty crazy our AHL lineup kept up pretty well with Toronto’s starting lineup. Is it just me or did they play the Mattews line for like half the game? Lmao. Lastly, Alex Lyon looks really nice. I wonder if we keep 3 goalies, because he’s getting scooped off waivers no doubt if he’s sent down.
I don’t want to lose Lyon to Tampa on waivers. Hopefully the 2nd year of his contract scares teams off.
That was honestly a much more entertaining game than last night imo
Miles ahead of the Chicago game at a minimum
Really happy to have reason to be excited about Lombardi before the preseason is over
I miss Beautuzzi.
At least we got a point.
First game I was able to watch, happy to see all the previous Danielson comments weren’t unwarranted.
Soderblom, gotta shoot quicker than that when you’re in the slot in OT.
So Danielson is good, and Edvinsson should make the team.
Considering we had several “roster locks” playing tonight and most notable (outside Lyon) was those 2.
I’m not sure you can say that you expect competition for jobs and then when guys step up like they have you don’t reward them. Seems like they’ve done enough to be here.
Danielson and Edvinsson have been the standouts from this preseason so far. Both have really impressed.
So mad I didn’t watch Lombardi when other people notice him
Lombardi looked awesome tonight. These pre-season games seem to really be doing him some good.
Alright boys, i watched the replay. And i think i finally figured out what’s been bugging me about Nate.
He looks like Jack fucking Eichel.
Same height. Few pounds lighter (as expected). Right handed natural center. Long reach. Big, gorgeous stride that makes it look like he isn’t fast until he blows right by someone.
The difference is their tool belts at that age. Eichel came into the league with massive offensive upside. He had to learn how to play defense effectively. He did, and he leveraged his physical gifts to do so. Got a cup for it, eventually.
Danielson looks so natural out there because he’s showing up like an inverse Eichel. No outrageous offensive talent, but his defensive game is smooth and natural and effective like Eichel’s offense was as a kid.
Probably stands to reason that as he develops his offensive game and becomes more of a complete forward, the comparisons will start rolling in.
To those who think I’m bullshitting. Watch Danielson’s tip in from tonight’s game. Then pull up game two of Vegas vs Winnipeg in last season’s playoff. Pull up Eichel’s tip in goal. Watch how each of them skate to find the space to get a stick in there, then watch how each of them deploy their reach to nullify their respective defenders.
Have a great night Detroit.
I think Mr. Coach Lalonde is going to be a great coach for this team.
Was at the game in Toronto. Don’t feel like Danielson should make the team right now like some do, and didn’t love Edvinsson tonight (although he is close to NHL ready).
Loved Berggren and Kasper however. I think Berggren has potential to be a problem in this league and definitely needs to be a regular in our lineup.
