If he can’t score playing for the Rangers 15 minutes a game he certainly won’t be able to handle playing in Montreal, the fans and media there will boo him after his first shift not scoring

with the depth on LW, Rangers definitely might as well trade him if a team offers good return for him. Laf's main problem is speed.
Current Habs executive vice-president Jeff Gorton oversaw the Rangers when Lafreniere was drafted. Gorton should make amend and salvage Lafreniere.
Rangers refused to give up Laffy for Eichel. How did that go? Even Kakko was way too much to give up for them.
Rangers already had two LWs in Kreider and Panarin. How did they think Laffy should succeed playing third line or on the wrong side?
“Give him time,expect him to eventually be a star in the league that could be a consistent 70-80 point player.” The hockey writers pre-draft thoughts on Laffy.
The typical NHL skilled player takes around 200 pro games to transition from juniors to the NHL. Kakko, one year older than Laffy, played his 200th game partway through last season—the season in which he “finally broke out” as a top-6 forward. Lafreniere has played 212 games in the NHL to date. Typically, this is the year where you would expect him to find his groove at the pro level and establish himself as a top-6 winger. I would expect him to score somewhere around 45-49 points this season, if he plays middle-6 minutes and gets on the 2PP unit.
Lafreniere is screwed, forever stuck on the third line behind Panarin and Kreider. The moment Kreider had that 50-goal season, that was the nail in the coffin for Laffy. They have to put him on the right wing if they want him in the top six, or they have to trade him.
they need to trade both laffy and kaapo. neither will reach their potential in that shithole that is NY. they have no idea how to develop forwards and they're just going to waste two more high draft picks. wasting a second AND first overall pick is a colossal failure. they should have moved both a year or two ago. taking pride in having kakko grow to be an average middle 6 forward is just pathetic. lol
of course this isnt entirely on NY laffy and kakko. some of the blame must be out on them.
Lafrenière is sadly in Alexandre Daigle territory. In Daigle's case the problem was, he waa not having fun playing hockey.
