@Maple Leafs de Toronto

Oh mon Dieu, Toronto…

Imo the leafs need Willy for whatever attempt at a cup run they can make this year. If he has to go after then it is what it is.

  2. Guy deserves more then the other 3, dudes a playoff performer. 2 of em choke every yr an the other 1 is like 34 yrs old.

  3. Crosby makes under 9, but willi wants 10? Yeah right dude

  4. I support Nylander’s quest for a higher salary, because Toronto is absolutely crazy with its cap space management and the contracts they end up giving up to regular season players.

    And i highly doubt any contender will throw over 10 at Nylander except if some catastrophic end of career injury would occur on the RW, he’s no center.

    Yes he did 40 goals … while playing in the famous core 4. There is risk to bringing him into an environment where there is no such supporting cast. The perfect fit could be somewhere like Chicago with plenty of cap space, Bedard and potentially Hall or Reichel to play with.

  5. Think Willie will go to free agency and get paid,and most likely be the marquee name on his new team.The Buds just don’t have the cap clearance to keep that many high dollar players.

  6. I was there at the Detroit game yesterday and Nylander was by far playing the best and fastest game. He’s gonna get 50 goals this season.

  7. A Great Player.
    Friends in my office continuously talk about trading Nylander!!!!
    Are you all insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    He is a superstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Nylander is better than Marner so how can he not want the same money? One of them has to go next season.

  9. Bill Nylander is an elite high skill RW in his prime. He will, barring injury, score 40 again this year. The problem to me, and many others is his attention to detail when it comes to playing D. He is a lightweight in his own zone & that's why Matthews & Marner get paid more. If Bill put the same effort into keeping the puck out of his own net that those two do, then he'd be a 10M player. I keep hoping he'll buy-in, but he was -4 in the post season while Matthews & Marner were plus players (Marner was +9 vs Tampa & Bill -2).

  10. Guys a floater, capitalizing on his linemates efforts, come playoffs his linemates are exhausted from carrying his ass all year.

  11. He's always been an elite offensive player. The reason he isn't worth top dollar is his defense or lack there of. He also takes games off effort wise. Don't get me wrong I think he's a great player but he has some flaws.

  12. Yeah it would be such bad news if Willy plays great this year.

    We would so much rather him play terrible so we can keep him around.

    Give your head a shake.

  13. Leafs suck. Beta males are not cup material. They will never win a cup.

  14. I think you conflate producing points with being the best player. He is very rarely the best player on the ice. It happens, but not very often.

  15. If I’m Willy I’m asking for a 2 year 18m $ contract to try a couple more times with the core while also proving I can make 13-14 mil down the road as a star

  16. Yeah guys obviously we should re sign all the same guys that have been losing to even more money.

  17. I do think he has been really good, and one of the best leafs these past few season, and he did look really good in that game too

  18. Is that so much money for a hockey team or can someone explain to me why the owner doesn't want to pay the 5 extra dollars?
    sounds like stinginess to me, what's 10.5 million ^^

  19. They bumped him to centre to:

    A) see what happened;
    B) push his peers;
    C) sway the media away from the contract talk

    …and it was a smart move. Willie is gonna play himself out of Toronto next year. Is what it is.

  20. Hes not going anywhere, he loves being a Leaf more than almost any other player on that team

  21. There is a lot of teams if he went to he would be their best player. What I like about Nylander is he loves to play and when you really need a goal he can get it.If the leafs don't want to pay I will cheer for what ever team he goes to.

  22. He has the 10.5M in skill but you never know if he feels like putting in effort each game😢

  23. It never ends with y’all does it? Heard Matthews was leaving for the past 7 years, also heard he wanted 14-15 mil…. Now willy? 😂

  24. How come Toronto can have that much superstars and not be broke. Nylander would probably be a franchise player in any other team, but he's got Mathews, Marner and Tavares in the way.

  25. They need to sign him for 1 year cheap and wait for Tavares to take a hometown discount to sign a long term deal

  26. leafs cant pay their second best right winger 10M+ next year so that won't be happening. might have to let him walk then do something with the cap space. Maybe they could try having some good D idk who's likely available next year tho. Sucks. I blame Dubas and Shanny for getting shit on by player agents.

  27. How about Willie to the Bruins? 🙂 They will have the cap next season and he played centre for Pasta in Sweden.

  28. You truly don't know Jack about the leafs. This move was done because Minten and Knies have worked so well together that they can or will be the next 3rd line for the leafs.

  29. the leafs want the cup. Bring us the cup and thats all that matters. he'll get paid or he won't.
