  1. This guy is a moron, Captain Kirk is the best goalie in Nucks history, Lu was good but not at McLean status, Lu is a Panther, Captain Kirk is a Nuck, enough said!

  2. rob was wearing pampers when kirk mclean played. i remember him and his game and he was a stud. luongo was a long term rental. and let's not forget that he could have gone on LTIR in florida and got his deal paid till it ended which ALL players do when injured and are not coming back. luongo retired and put the canucks on the hook for the salary cap recapture. got a job with the panthers management group immediately. he sh*t the bed in the 2011 final, asked to be traded, and then he screwed the canucks. why would you retire this jerks number in vancouver?

  3. Maybe a hot take here, but i think the canucks have too low a bar for retired jerseys. Imo, the only retired jerseys should be Linden, Daniel and Henrik. You could even make the argument only Daniel and Henrik. Played their entire 1300+ game careers for Van, both hall of famers and took the team to within one game of the cup. I'm a huge Bure, Naslund and Linden fan… but none of them come even close to that type of legacy for the franchise.

  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, Luongo chose Florida, at the end he chose retirement over injury, that hurt Vancouver and helped Florida. My vote is Van doesn't retire his number.

  5. They've done this in the past, then stumbled out of the blocks because no one really knows what's going on.

  6. Hughes had a perfect partner in Tanev, but the Canucks let him walk. Hughes has a much bigger defensive dimension than someone like Karlsson did in his career, but Karlsson was never the same in Ottawa after they lost Methot. Those perfect complimentary defensive defenceman that can still play at a high level are exceptional under valued and the teams that make that mistake shoot themselves in the foot every time.

It was strange when Florida retired Luongo's jersey, because in the scope of his work he didn't have his best years there and it was on a bad team, but for the 8 seasons Luongo was in Vancouver he absolutely deserved to have his jersey retired or nobody here deserved to have their jersey retired.
