1. It’s interesting that what is clearly limiting the Oilers now are two contracts they gave with a smile to Nurse and Campbell.

Let’s say they were capable of saving 3 or 4 million from these contracts somehow, thats Tomas Tatar (just throwing a name) instead of Brown in the top6, which puts him on a now better 3rd. Maybe there would be just enough cap left to have some flexibility at the deadline if a problem occurs.

Sadly the Oilers can’t attract players like the Rangers, could you imagine McDavid and Draisatl having players of Wheeler, Tarasenko or Patrick Kane level complete their lines even if it was for a season only.

  2. Well you're wrong about a number of things, but mainly, Edmonton will run a tandem with Woodcroft stating that "we need both goalies – it's a two-goalie league now. Its 1A and 1B." meaning its a tandem. He said the 1A would get not much more than 50 games. That said, Campbell has looked good in the preseason and has put up great numbers in the past. He has the ability, I think its just his headspace, and he seems much better coming into this season. The question is not about Stuart Skinner. Skinner IS consistent. He will be a solid 1B. And Connor Brown could be a bigger deal than you think, if he has real chemistry with McDavid. They had a good goal together in the preseason

  3. Conor McDavid is being used & abused by Edmonton. He won win the Cup with these Losers. He’ll be better off with a different team, most likely Seattle or LA

  4. Dude seriously needs to learn how to work on sound leveling, or compression … with an otherwise okay video, your sound is "terrible" (sorry).

  5. Way to go bud…at least we know now why u got fired from your GM job..keep it up ..in no time you'll be back in minors..

  6. Nurse is undervalued? Lmao… He's a turnover machine who gets exposed semi regularly for being out of position. He's horrible.. Yeah he's a good skater and can set up plays and has a good shot, but on the back end he's mediocre. Go Oil Go!

  7. Darnell Nurse Bitch Slapped Calgary's forwards so badly in the playoffs that their 2 best forwards jumped on the first train out of Cowtown….WITH A TORN HIP FLEXOR!!!…..PRICELESS!!!!!!

  8. Not that i really blame you or anything but a lot of these takes would be more accurate if the video was made last season. Full of tired cliches that were true maybe a year ago but im not so sure anymore.

No mention of Philip Broberg stepping into the top 6 on d. The pairings once Ekholm returns from injury will likely be…

    Nurse – Bouchard
    Ekholm – Broberg
    Ceci – Kulak
    Desharnais

Which completely depends on Broberg adequately stepping into that role. Not likely to see Ceci on the top pair this year. A bottom pair of Kulak Ceci is solid in my opinion.

The bottom 6 is full of newly developed players from our system that are more unknown to outsiders but people playing close attention are pretty excited about our depth. Holloway and Mcleod are 2 great players that I could see having huge breakouts this year.

I understand the trepidation about our goalie situation but the reality is that Campbell had a brutal year last year that does not represent who he is as a goalie. It's a statistical outlier compared to the rest of his career. Hes come into preseason and gotten 3 wins with a 970 save percentage and looks way more confident. Hes put in work on his mental game this offseason. Expect a bounce back from Campbell.

The last thing ill bring up is an adjustment to our defensive systems made this offseason. Going from a man on man approach to a zone defence which allows a defenceman to protect the front of the net at all times and limits shots to the outside which has been clear and evident throughout the preseason. Our goalies should benefit from this change as they dont have to face as many slot shots this year if the system is played correctly.

The oilers will always be a top heavy team. They have the 2 best players in the world, there is no getting around that in a salary cap system. I think Holland has done a fabtastic job filling in the team around them. They should compete for a cup this year.

  9. Wow, what hillbilly clan did you drop from? "Looks like he is about to lower the lotion"…give me a break! I know you are an OILER secret lover.

  10. I can see some of your points but i think you are wrong about a few things.
If current trends remain the same it looks like Campbell has found his form and will most likely take the 1A spot with Skinner getting 45% of the action.
Edmonton has been a soft team the last few seasons when they face strong adversity. They have this issue that all the players just wanna pass the puck to 97 or 29 when they are on the ice which doesn't help much for personal growth and confidence on the rest of the team.
If neither of the 2 main stars aren't having a good game, the rest of the team has to switch gears and goals to provide points.
What does Edmonton and Toronto have in common?
They build a team around their star forwards. Then they wonder why they fall short in the playoffs. Cover the star players and it increases their defense by 50% alone.
Why did Vegas win last year? Because each forward line is its own entity!
I would like to to note, that this year it seems the Oilers have gotten away from this mind set and every single line seems to be effective.
McLeod is decent but I haven't seen a lot of noteworthy plays in quite a while. I'm willing to put money on the fact that Foegele will surpass his point per season record.
Bouchard has seen a lot of growth offensively and his confidence has grown and you see the defense are not afraid to jump into the play around the net and one of the forwards slip into that defenses spot until he gets back after the play.
They have seemed to play a rotating rhythm type of style when on the PP or Offensive rush.

I have a feeling that even The Hockey Guy (Shannon) will be surprised at how well Edmonton will be playing this season.
I am an Oilers fan, but I am not a die hard that is so invested, that I would be not be able to see their flaws, and I was yelling at the Oilers for their screw ups and laziness whenever they slacked off once up a few goals.
In the past, they did not have a killer attitude and you could actually see their skating and passing get sloppy when they had a lead. That pissed me off to no end! If it wasn't for their video team they would have lost the Battle of Alberta in 21-22 season.
I'm putting money on them reaching the finals this year!

  11. mate, they are being predicted as one of the cup favourites this year. lol saaaaalty

  12. 3:373:41 LMAO this is funny also the oilers had glaring back end red flag against LA and vegas capitalized it, Bruce Cassidy was a way better coach and hill was hungry

  13. Just click bait with the "Fuck Your Team" subject title for the videos. You can do better buddy, your takes are nothing special

  14. Campbell is the starter again, after he killed the preseason. I wont be surprised to see it flip back though.

  15. Woodcroft has one on the highest winning % of any coach lol this kid is braindead

  16. Great video, you got another sub! Im an oiler fan and i feel like what you said was mostly accurate. Soooo many salty boomer oiler fans in your comments lmao this fan base really can be so emotional and reactive its annoying

  17. also, imagine paying nurse like 4 million per. wait, that's still too much

  18. how is E Kane a middle sixer? he's a legit 2nd line forward. i hate the oilers too but dont talk BS

  19. You totally lost me at "anyone could look good with McDavid and Draisaitl on their team". Did you forget Dallas Eakins? Todd Nelson? Todd McLellan? Ken Hitchcock? And third liners who score 40 to 50 points? The Golden Knights last year, their 7th, 8th, 9th highest scoring forwards had 36, 30, and 27 points respectively. Their 6th highest scoring forward had 38. The other Stanley Cup finalist the last season, the Panthers? Their 7th, 8th, and 9th highest scoring forwards had 33, 29, and 27 points respectively. Their 6th highest scoring forward had 40. They only had 4 forwards who scored more than 43 points. Now, I'm aware that the Bruins bombed the playoffs, but they were a favourite – their 7th, 8th, and 9th highest scoring forwards had 45, 36, and 31 points respectively, while only one player even hit the 70 point threshold. As did only one Golden Knights player. I'm not so sure you know as much about what a cup winning team needs as you think.

  20. For starters, McDavid and Draisitle both take up about 20 million in cap, so its not exactley easy to build a team around that. With that being said, Holland has done the best any GM can do. Dont forget we didnt have Kane, or Eckholm for most of the season last year and to sweeten the pot, we have Connor Brown coming in to help McDavid. A proven NHl player finally. And Holloway Broberg coming in, theres alot to be excited about this year. Watch tf out.
