  1. 8.5 for Hellebuyck is a gift. Anyone calling that an overpay is a moron who knows shit all about hockey.

  2. I thought Helle might want to go to the US, but nice on him stay up in Winnipeg! He must love it there!

  3. The truth about Sheifs as I see it is that for years he was, imo, one of the best players protecting the puck behind the net. His Achilles injury really fucked his playstyle and it seems like it took a while to relearn an effective way to play, but after last season I think he has what it takes to be a PPG player in the league.

  4. Jets just can’t keep their star players! Aside from, Connor, Ehlers, Scheifele, Hellebuyck, Morrissey, Lowry, and back in the day Little, Wheeler, Byfuglien. We really just can’t keep anyone!

  5. Scheifele better keep his production up cause he doesnt do anything else Hellebuyck deal is good but Scheifele idk seems a bit steep down the road but Chevy has to do it to save his job but if they miss playoffs it wont look good

  6. Overpay?? These deals are a steal, especially in a fairly undesirable market. They can now sign other guys because it's clear they will be competitive. They cut out the cancer of wheeler and PLD and now have a chance to build something great.

  7. These 7 years contracts are bad! 4 years would have been okay, ffs!

  8. Honestly I love the Scheifele signing but the hellyuck not so much that I do think is slight overpay 7-7.5 mil would a probably been fair

  9. 8.5 for a top line centre and top of the line goalie isn't bad.. maybe the term is a bit long, especially for Sheifle.. but thus is amove they need to makenif they want to stay competitive

  10. One of those two is arguably Mr. Jet 2.0 and played in the team's first game back in Winnipeg, the other has a Vezina to his name along with runner-up finishes. You pay both of those types well, and yes $8.5M isn't a small number, but when you're a small-market team trying to entice your stars to stay around, you gotta do that sometimes.

Kudos to Chevy for getting business done, now let's see if the new faces brought in rejuvenate the team.

  11. Not a cup contender. Massive over pay. See Gallagher in MTL. Yes, you obviously do not know anything about hockey. Maybe its a sign and trade. Maybe.

  12. It's a good move by the Jets, the money is not a concern at all as when the cap goes up 8.5 is nothing, the term yeah it's long and last couple of years won't be great especially for Scheifs but again what was the alternative lose your star goaltender and 40 goal scoring 1C, Chevy did his job well here.

  13. I don't know as a Jets fan I was happy to hear this. People were saying helle was going to look for 11M where ever he ended up.

They would both be lookin for more money with shorter term contracts and could probably get it elsewhere. So in my mind it's a win-win they get longer term security and the team gets the cap space.

  14. Cant believe people dont like signings
Vezina goalie and 1st line center where are these so called replacements if dont think valued 8.5? And how much would they want? Would they come to a place like winnipeg?

  15. Scifhley is an overpay, especially as he's in his 30 now and has hit his best and will start to regress. But hellbuck is an absolute steal, he's a 12mill goalie they got for 8 so I think when you combine the two your garting exactly what they should get

  16. It’s not an overpay but it doesn’t make a lot of sense to sign guys deep into their 30s at raises when they won nothing in their primes.

  17. One of arguably the top 5 goalies in the league, and a bonafide number 1 center. Completely great signings! I'd take either of those guys on my team for that deal! (Flames Fan)

  18. Less percentage of the cap compared to when they signed their last deals
