Guys, I’m starting to think Muzzin might never play again.

Not gonna pretend to know enough about this subject… but isn’t it kinda odd Muzzin can hold a position like this while technically still under contract?

  3. McDirector doesn’t have the same ring to it

Very glad for Muzz. Good to see him get a role with us.

Do we think we will see some more consistency with McElhinney as director of goaltending? He’s obviously not down at the ice, training the goaltenders himself but it seems like something we have struggled with for years

  6. I’m surprised that is allowed for Muzz given he’s still on a players contract

Love that McElhinney is back in the organization. He’s a great follow on insta, posts lots of interesting stories and insights from his career

Muzzin has been named a Pro Scout! Very cool 🙂

Is he getting paid for that or is it volunteer work?

Link to the tweet that links to the article instead of linking the article…smh.

For those wondering why he can be a scout and have a contract the NHL likely allows this for players who will never play again. It’s probably required to basically say to them you won’t sign another deal and you are done. I can’t confirm this, this is just my brain making sense of this. You’d assume if a team could offer a player a scout position to circumvent the salary cap it would’ve been done a long time ago especially during free agency.

“Hey Matthews, we will give you a “job” as a scout for the other couple million we want to pay you but are saving for other players”

YESSS, MUZZ. I knew he wasn’t going to play, but I wanted him to stay a Leaf in whatever capacity he could.

A new Free Job for Muzzin while being on LTIR lol what Scouting experience does he have lol

I hope Leafs have better goalie Development people than a career NHL backup who at most played 32-33 games in a year

  14. That’s funny, rival fans told me that Muzzin was on LTIR for cap circumvention…

Such a bummer with Muzzin. The dude killed it, and was always a beast on the blue line in his short time for the Leafs. Glad he got his ring; I just wish it was with us.

Is Muzzin allowed to scout while still under contract?
