Garland seems like a good pro, it really is too bad it hasn’t really worked out as well as we all hoped.

How much can the focus *really* be on the start of the season now tho? It’s a distraction for everyone in the locker room just 24 hours before Game 1.

And it will be a problem if this drags on for months because no one can take his contract

Do we know the reason he wants a trade?

  4. SingleSampleSize

How many players have asked out of this team since Kesler?

Feels like an on-going saga every year.

I thought he was trapped on a shitty Arizona team and would instead flourish here.

He had his best goal scoring season with Arizona. 22 goals in 68 games in 2019-2020.

This happening, Soucy injured already despite playing 78 games last season, Benson looking like a top competitor for the Calder…things going exactly as expected.

I mean if you really want the team to trade you, I will note that leading the league in goal scoring worked wonders for Bo Horvat. Maybe try that!

  8. I fully believe(putting aside the toxicity he has experienced from fans/media last season and the start of this preseason) that something changed in the past couple days between him and mgmt. He loves playing for Tocchet and seems to be well liked in the locker room so I don’t think this is just about opportunity. Both him and Boeser doing this is not a good look for mgmt and if nothing happens it’s going to lead to more toxicity from fans/media.

If the team is relying on his agent to facilitate a deal, it’s probably a bad sign. We’ve seen this before. The dudes still here.

A week after Rutherford took over we got our first Conor Garland trade rumour and with every deadline, draft and UFA period since he’s been listed as a name the team is trying to trade. They were in a cap pickle this summer and were presumably offering him for free. No takers.

I don’t like his odds at getting this sorted out now that rosters and the cap is basically locked in for teams until they can wiggle some room in 5 months at the TDL or the next draft/ufa window.

Brock’s agent didn’t find a way out for him last year and he’s got youth, a shorter contract and production on his side.

Undersized. Overpaid. Can’t score or defend. If Boeser couldn’t find a taker then Garland won’t either.

    Garland can kiss my ass.

Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out ya clown.

They’re saying, « No way. You must’ve rigged something. » I didn’t do fucking shit. I didn’t rig shit! I’ve been waiting a long time for a hit on Corncob TV. I didn’t fucking do this!

Just seems like garland never fit in with the Canucks. Never vibed with the team or city. I know he has some niche outspoken political views and I wonder if that’s a factor in all this

If he is on his way out maybe we should try to boost his production before we trade him. Give him top 6 and PP1 time. Otherwise he doesn’t net us much in return.

I don’t see why Garland isn’t getting the ice time he wants here. We’re probably starting the season with Kuz, Boes, Beau, and PDG as the top-6 wingers. And I just don’t see PDG or Beau helping us win more than Garland. He’s one of the best forwards 5v5, works hard, wins battles, and its not like he doesn’t have offensive upside.

  17. mediumyeet

Looks like Dante Fabbro is a healthy scratch to start the season in Nashville. Wonder if there is anything that can be done revolving a trade of him and garland.

Hello ___(insert name of Blue Jackets defenseman here)?

  19. sirTh0mas0666

Vancouver fans and media have been pushing him out since he got here ffs. I feel bad for him.

  20. Isitsunnyout

Trade should’ve never happened in the first place. Jim did it to save his job and in doing so screwed us for years. In todays market there’s like no value for garland so don’t expect much

  21. stayathmdad

Garland is one of my faves, so this hurts.

    I get it, but damn.

  22. monkey314

gg garland distracting the media from petey

  23. If he actually wants out then yeah try to get rid of him! Thats a good chunk of cap space for a guy who hasn’t lived up to it.

  24. N4ZZY2020

Yeah, those comments that Rutherford made about if everything goes right.

    Well, that’s haunting him now.

    1. Petey contract
    2. Garland wants out
    3. Flu apparently going around the team
    4. Pressure to start well and not be behind the eight ball
    5. Soucy out « week to week » (whatever the hell this means)
    6. Ily Mikeheyev out for who knows how long.

What else could go wrong? God Lord. being a fan of this team really hurts.
