I will not stand for this slander of Chris Tanev

I wish I had someone love me the way Hughes loves Hronek lol.

He’s just happy he’s not the only defenseman people have expectations from anymore

  4. Not sure how having your two best puck-movers on the same pair will work out, but if EA’s broken chemistry system has taught me anything, they’ll get that +5 line combo for sure

About halfway through camp when it became pretty clear Juulsen/McWard weren’t real options next to QH43 I went all in on them loading up the top pair with Hughes/Hronek.

Play them 24+ minutes/night, head to head against the McDavids of the league.

Play Cole/Myers in a secondary matchup/PK1 role for ~18 minutes/night. Then carve out 3rd pair minutes for Soucy/Whoever.

Honestly Hronek was who I had pencilled in for long-term Hughes partner. I didn’t think it’d happen this soon, and given how anemic our defensive core is rn it may not last long into the season, but Hughes-Hronek would be one hell of a top pairing going forward IMO.

Give Cap’n Q whatever he wants.

You gotta play Hughes-Hronek on opening night considering the injuries to Soucy and possibly Blueger. Home game means we can match the Hughes-Hronek pair against McDrai and hope that we have at least Blueger back for the game in Edmonton a few days later. Everybody wants to get off to a good start, we need to do everything we can in game 1 to shut down McDrai or we’re probably going to lose. Honestly I think we’re probably losing game 2 regardless bc EDM is just too potent, but let’s at least bulk up for game 1. I’m not trying to start the season with another losing streak. And I reeeeally don’t want to see more jerseys on the ice.

If the goal is to munch up those minutes and drive the offense most of the game, why not? It’s worth a shot, as long as they keep Myers on the bench more than he was last season

I think we’re about to see a huge season out of our new Captain. This gives him all the freedom in the world for offensive creativity. Big years from Peetey and Hughes incoming..

I’m all for trying anything to improve the defense from last year, in both ends.

Hell yes. Keep your good players together. Enough with this depth stuff
