Not really a surprise, the roster freeze is over and they can do all the paper transactions today to finalize the opening night roster.

Hirose is already on the ice for morning skate per [Drance](https://x.com/thomasdrance/status/1712156213105074481?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw)

    Lines from morning skate:

    Kuzmenko. Pettersson. Garland

    PDG. Miller. Boeser

    Joshua. Suter. Beauvillier

    Mikheyev. Lafferty. Höglander.

    Hughes. Hronek

    Cole. Myers

    Hirose. Juulsen

(Mikheyev it’s confirmed will not play, Blueger, Soucy and Brisebois not on the ice which means Canucks could be a man short tonight if all 3 are confirmed injured).

Tocchet confirms Blueger and Brisebois are game time decisions

I’m a bit surprised that Hirose only got to play in 1 pre-season game considering he was always going to be one of the first call ups. I guess they weren’t anticipating for both Soucy and Brisebois to be injured to start the season – just Canuck things

I guess the McWard experiment is over for now. If we’re loading up the Hughes – Hronek pairing and putting Cole with Myers, it makes far more sense for Juulsen to be our third pairing D. Especially now that Hirose is covering for Soucy, as having two brand new pro defensemen in a Hirose – McWard pairing would be a recipe for disaster.

I still think McWard has a bright future with this organization though. I can genuinely see him being a longer-term fit for this team after gaining some pro experience in Abby.

Give it an hour and we will see some more

Closest Podz gets to the NHL all year

  6. Unit_731_Survivor

I’m surprised that Lafferty is already in. It’s a good thing though he adds alot to that 4th line

  7. arazamatazguy

If Podz doesn’t get called up mid-season and stick I think he’s probably done as a Canuck.

  8. Putting Garland with the top line after saying he doesn’t want to play for this team is an atrocity.

  9. phantomgiratina

Of Mikeyev isn’t playing we’re gonna be playing with one less forward? Amazing

Man, PDG. What a story. This guy just came out of nowhere last year and now he’s on the 2nd line

  11. jdmay101

It’s an indictment on the team’s depth that a guy takes a puck of the laces and another guy is day to day with a knee injury and all of a sudden they’re short a forward.

Also, if they’re actually can’t they do an emergency call up of… I dunno, Studnicka or Bains or McDonough or someone, who can play 4LW? Why not do that before morning skate if so?

Hirose and Juulsen pairing is likely just a stop gap for practice.

It’ll likely be Hughes and Juulsen, Hirose and Hronek whenever it’s not Hughes and Hronek.

I doubt they ever ice Hirose and Juulsen by themselves.

Glad they went this route. Juulsen had a great game last time he played, and Hirose is solid too. I just hope both of them play a strong composed and controlled game, and just play it safe with no bad penalties.

Myers too, I hope that dude just stays on his side and doesn’t make himself liable by hovering around following the puck, cross checking and taking stupid penalties.

Wondering why they would have Mikheyev in a game day practice 4th line?? I’d much rather Aman there.

Lol i wish myers only made 2 mil. Would be a fantastic bottom pairing

Seems like a good dude and good team mate who can also step in big at times (emphasize at times)

  14. FlarfenMarfen

Quinn / Hronek playing 43 minutes tonight, confirmed.
