    >9 . In the not-too-distant future, Patrick Kane’s return is going to become a dominant NHL story. The video released by his agency (CAA) had its intended effect, and there’s a lot of interest. Kane will wait to see how teams start. Florida was very aggressive during the summer, but Buffalo will be the team to watch.

    >10 . There was never any doubt Rasmus Dahlin would extend with Buffalo. The bigger question was term. After Auston Matthews signed for four seasons, there was talk Dahlin would copy that plan, go shorter term and leave room for one more massive contract. The Sabres pushed hard for eight years from the beginning. Ultimately, Dahlin, very happy in Buffalo, agreed. It’s a win-win. I’ll bet on that contract aging very well.

    >11 . Buffalo undoubtedly wanted to announce both Dahlin and Owen Power at the same time. Again, there’s nothing to worry about for Sabres fans, it will happen. **But a recent push to try and get both done at once fell short.**

The next obvious question is what caused it to fall short, but unfortunately Friedman didn’t tell us what the hang up(s) was (were).

Power’s agent wanted to see what Dahlin got.

I’m not that concerned at this point that Power’s contract is going to skyrocket in AAV. Considering the Sanderson contract, the absolute lowest possible now is $8.5, but more likely $9. I really doubt that Power’s going to have the leverage to say “give me Dahlin money” at the end of this season. If he does, then that’s incredible for us.

Most likely after this season, Power will have leverage for 9.5×8, which is perfectly fine

I think power plays out his contract to pump his value. The reality is that he’s going to get paid on potential if he signs now. He really wasn’t that great last year on defense, but he was a schmeltz and still did about as good as one could hope for. But he wasn’t 8 million good. But he will be at least that good and he will make more money the longer he waits to sign.

I had honestly thought all along that the delay in the Dahlin announcement was that they wanted to announce both at the same time but his comments about the stress he was feeling during training camp kind of squished that

I’m praying to every God/Goddess/Energy Being: Please keep Patrick Kane away from this team.

If we could get Powers for 9×8 that would be awesome. Can you imagine those two locked up for that long. Good time to be a Sabres fan
