For so many years the oilers have come out of the gate strong. Then slowly disappear into the sunset. Best this sort of blow out happens now vs later. It’s good for this team to get humbled like this. It will build character and they will come out stronger in the end.
Bantam B2 – level Goaltending yet again… Until they trade for an NHL calibre goalie that can CONSISTENTLY play at an ELITE level, it will be the same result. It repeats itself over and over and over and over and over. Oilers management just doesn’t get it with the massive void in net. I hope one day they take the blinders off and do something about it.
If Mattais means this much to this team … what value are nurse and the others ? The defense is jelly….I get the sneaking suspicion this year may not be all it’s cracked up to be … the malaise of this group rests in the arrogant talent that still does not know how to play hard nosed hockey. Unbuttoned.They do not play as an intuitive group. I will be more than pleasantly surprised if this team wins the division…. They may not even take 2nd.~ they will kick the crap out of the bottom of the west and get taught lessons by better cohesive teams. With Mattias off the ice this team is exposed.
Well you got the worst performance out of your system. Don't do it again! Not Campbells fault. He made some clutch saves but the whole D crumbled in front of him. I think all the internal and external hype pressure got to everyone. Learn from this boys and bounce back
Blocking shots when it’s 7-1 is not smart play and now if his hand is broken and he’s out for 2 months it’s not even close to positive. Looks like Jay has learned nothing. To a man it sure looked like the whole team wasn’t prepared to play…again.

When they flew 3-0, Woodcraft again returns McDavid and Leon to the same link in the hope of feverishly fixing something…All the fives are made up terribly, the players are not played. During the match, they are mixed with each other again. All this looks like an attempt to get out at any cost..The coach has no vision of the game, no faith in his decisions. The players are hostages of this. Until you realize that with any composition, Mr. Woodcraft will spoil any team – all this will continue. Hyman did not play the pass and does not play, how many losses were there from him in attack? And it continues to be released together with Leon…When his place is in the 3-4 link. Woodcraft broke Connor and Leon's most dangerous league tie and continues to do so for the second season… Until all of you, the fans of the team, understand that all the problems are in a mediocre coach, this will not change. I am sure that he is lying to the club's management as well, that they will add and take the cup, just as he is on the ice mixing links in incompetent attempts to save something. This team needs another coach. I hope Woodcroft gets kicked out of the team before the middle of the season. This is not the case when we win and lose together, this is the case when one mediocrity breaks the team for the third season, depriving players of chances for the cup.

Vancouver dominated this game @ both ends of the ice. This is a huge wake up call for the Oiler's coaching staff the new defensive system is likely not the answer for this group. This result is more than a bad outing its a hockey God's message the train is on the wrong track.
I see NOTHING has changed from last year! Still no DESIRE to battle like they actually WANT win. No EFFORT to forecheck, especially from Draisaitl, who when frustrated uses his sick to SLASH instead of his body to actually hit someone. Oilers need to realize they can't just "phone in" a win!
Probably wasn't as bad of effort as the score showed. Canucks will beat Edmonton on Saturday also. Or at worst a ot loss. Canucks were hurt really bad last year with really bad goaltending. Vancouver is faster this year. Bigger on the back end. And deeper on forward group.
