Look did these refs suck? Yes, holy shit. But also the only reason we even got a point was due to the power play. There were some issues tonight. But it’s early. We knew this team wasn’t going to be as good defensively this year.

  2. NJDevil802

Man, those refs were fuckin on one tonight. And before it looks like sour grapes, they were atrocious for both teams. Cooley did not embellish.

  3. MrMooMoo91

Lol I prepared for the meltdowns all summer. Oh no they aren’t dominating from the start. It was a good game and they were road warriors last year with plenty of ups and downs.

Just stop with the fire Lindy crap this soon, it’s embarrassing and childish.

  4. specifichero101

Shoot outs suck. Need to see more from Nico and timo and Mercer. On to the next one, good to get on the road

    – We still do the thing where we suck in the first period. We won a lot of comeback wins last year, that’s not going to be a guarantee this year.

    – PK needs work. Dumb penalties will come back to haunt us. Of course they score in the third with less than ten minutes left when Smith takes a dumb penalty.

    – We still suck at the shootout. We have so many good players, when will it end. The shootout sucks and shouldn’t be a thing, but it is and we’re leaving points on the board.

    – Still getting goalied.

    – We should beat teams like Arizona.

    – For how sloppy we looked in both games, I’m fine with taking 3 points in a back to back.

Edit- Devils are 5-15 in the shootout since 2021. With how many OT wins they had last season, they need to figure out how to be better in the shootout. Teams know we’re bad I the SO, and dangerous in 3v3, they’re just going to play keep away and maintain possession if they know they have an 80% chance to win in SO.

  6. Can Lindy Ruff be questioned over anything? Like honest question to those who love him, can we question him over the bad starts? Like what is acceptable to question Lindy over?

  7. NJDevs30

They have some things to work on, but still a much better start than last season

  8. Fire everyone.

    Trade anyone not named Hughes.

    Tank for Celebrini

  9. RunningM8

We really need a better goalie. Sorry I love Akira and Vitek but we’re not going deep in the spring with either. They both allow soft goals. Vitek had to see a therapist in the offseason and Schmid is mid.

  10. DontDraftSmall

Honestly we haven’t looked great the first two games and goaltending has been average. Holtz has been invisible, but so have other marquee players. Need to step it up a notch, pre season is over.

  11. nycdevil

Damnit, I was really hoping for the 164 point Presidents Trophy season instead of the stupid 123 point Presidents Trophy season we’re on track for now.

  12. DevilJacket2000

They still needed Vejmelka to have an amazing game to save their ass, now matter how poorly things started.

  13. Batfleck666

3 out of 4 points in games they weren’t their best. I’ll take it…but, they need to get their shit together.

  14. If you’re driving a civic and just hit a dude trying to make a train, I’m sorry for totaling your car.

  15. jflynn53

Goals the last two nights all happened when someone took the shot they had, so many opportunities have been wasted in the last 125 minutes of hockey waiting to have the goalie completely beat instead of taking the shot they have.

  16. Thehawkman2

Gotta stop with the slow starts tbh.

It’s a problem from last year that continuing into this year.

  17. gothenburgpig

1-0-1 to start. I for one was hoping we would play as well as the 2022-23 Boston Bruins this year, you know, the best regular season ever and the best team to ever play hockey. Oh well.

  18. Kornja81

Not too worried after 2 game (look at last year). Just need to play smarter, stay out of the box and convert on more odd man rushes. They get plenty of chances but just can’t score.

  19. msbdrummer

Of course this is the first game I attend 🫠

  20. IsstvanIII

Get Brendan Smith and his dumb penalties back in the press box ffs. It’s NEMEC time.

  21. Maybe we should try to not allow 3 goals per game

  22. SoccerLife243

Toffoli is gonna be HUGE for us this season. Still can’t believe he’s a Devil.

  23. theorangekeystonecan

Wouldn’t be surprised if the boys occasionally checked in on these threads. Let’s be a bit more grounded guys. It’s only game 2. I’m not worried. LFGD

  24. ScrewOff_

they need to go back to what was working in preseason… swap Mercer and Holtz because right now neither of those lines are doing anything

  25. MountainBaker8217

okay I am back with a sizzling hot take, hear me out:

**- Move Timo to Haula’s line and move Palat to Nico’s line.**

    Why?

    Because!

    * Timo and Holtzy had hella *chem* in the pre-season, so reunite them.
    * Nico and Timo just aren’t clicking like we all wanted that Swiss connection to work. Not right now anyway…
    * Nico’s line last season was mostly Tatar – Nico – Dawson and it worked because Tatar said he became way more defensively responsible being on a line with Nico and it allowed Nico and Dawson to make magic and Nico had his best season last season so we just need to mimic that.
    * So bring Palat up to be a better Tatar with with a better ability to finish and let Nico and Mercy do Nico and Mercy things.
    * Put Timo back with Holtzy and let their *chem* burn hot like fire and let Haula be their center and be the defensively responsible one to let Timo and Holtzy do Timo and Holtzy things.

Someone give me Lindy’s direct line! I gotta blender he’ll love!

  26. pretzelogically

Get this team on the road and get them to start playing the way they know they’re supposed to instead of constantly trying to put on a skate-pass-shoot competition. The offense will happen naturally when they play the takeaway & speed transition game they’re built for.

  27. shmabeog

An I really the only one who thinks we win with Vanecek between the pipes? I love Schmidt, but I think Vitek is better.

  28. Public_Antelope_6275

toffoli, jack, and bratt seems to be the only line working rn. lindy needs to switch some things up
