  1. As a sabres fan,
What an absolute horse shit holding call.
    Fuck this league.

Such a bad call but damn Tkachuk needs to bury that. Ugh

  3. Honestly not the best game but we battled back with a lot of new faces out there getting used to each other. Nice seeing Rodrigues, Reino, Swaggu and Barky light the lamp. If we’re being honest there were times when last years regular season team looked infinitely worse than this team today. (Carolina game where we lost 4-0 and had 18 shots on goal)

If I’m looking for a positive they definitely rallied there at the end. I saw a glimmer of last years team out there in the second half of the third.

    Overall, there’s some promise.

While there were some truly awful stretches of that game for our defense, it’s worth remembering that Forsling and Mahura are the only carryovers from last season. Montour and Ekblad will be back and they’re going to add 20 goals from our blue line.

Feels like the offense has been fighting the puck and hurting from the absence of Bennett to solidify the top 9, but honestly they started to put it together towards the end. We went from scoring 0 goals in game 1 to 5 in game 2. On top of that, it looks like ERod is going to have a monster season and Reino isn’t having his characteristically slow start. Barkov needs to exercise his will over games and put the team on his back or I’m going to start believing he isn’t capable of doing so.

Now to goaltending. I will say, something I was thinking all of last season was a lot of our L’s were down to the fact that the other team’s goalie outplayed ours. Bad defense, yes, but ultimately we weren’t getting timely saves. Your defense isn’t going to be perfect, which is why organizations pay goaltenders. Playoff Bob and late season Lyon showed us what this team is capable of when we consistently have the best goalie on the ice.

Tonight, much like Thursday, we did not.

That more than anything else will need to change if we want to climb out of the little hole we’re in.

Second period was flat and defense was shaky at times, but a solid effort by the boys today. Rodrigues redeemed himself this game imo as well

The wins will come, very excited for Monday in Jersey. (I’m just glad I’m not saying Marc Staal’s name 10 times a game out of disgust like last year haha)

I thought Barkov was quite good today. I feel like the first too games the team has just seemed sluggish. It doesn’t help that Bennet is out.

Patience folks – this will take time to gel with new personnel and important missing players.

Got downvoted for saying this team was downgraded from last year.
