One disastrous minute to start the third and the entire game derailed from there.

  2. Individual_Potato629

Well… Coronato had his first NHL goal and it was a beauty! Going to remember that and Marky playing great, the rest of the game didn’t happen.

  3. JohnnyTestical

Good we got this out of the way early. Hopefully they can learn from this.

  4. GrafNebelgeist

That 3rd period, though. It was brutal.

At least we got to see Scoreonato’s first NHL snipe of many.

  5. Comfortable-Ad-7158

Things will take time people. Sad to see people already saying fire huska or this is markstroms fault. It could have been 5-0 after the first.

Some of yall need to chill.

  6. Slapppz

Idc i want positivity for ma boys. Its early in season and new coach

  7. tristan1616

Offense and defense are solid and the goalies shit the bed or the goalies are solid and either the offense or defense forget how to play hockey. There’s no in-between with this team

  8. Morphik1

Disheartening to see fans turn on Hanifin so quickly. We should want our players to succeed.

Hanifin’s been a great piece for us for years, if the negative noise from a slow two games helps convince him not to re-sign, I think it’d be a huge mistake. Even if we want to trade him, support makes it easier for him to care, and value would go up.

Also think about the effect on other players considering re-signing.

  9. Babyblueyeti

Been allowing a lot of quality chances these first two games, Marky saved us from a couple more goals in the 1st. Too many careless plays in our zone. Onto the next!

  10. Mikeyboy5387

There’s still a lot of hockey to be played yet. 80 more games. I’m not too worried

  11. lawplanet

That second period was so dominant.

  12. bears__beets27

I think a timeout needed to be called after the 2nd or (at the very least) 3rd goal. It was clear the Pens had all the momentum and came out flying, the Flames needed a reset

  13. itwasthedingo

Passing is terrible, but it’s early I’m not too worried. Hanifin needs to play better so we can trade him, he’s had an awful first two games

  14. Tedders19

Tough one for our back-end. Lots of stuff to tighten up there going forward. I’m pretty excited about Coronato though. He’s gonna be fun to watch this year.

  15. Spawnacus

This is a pretty much newly constructed team and its only the 2nd game. I’m observing this season rather than having any expectations. Lol

  16. JESUS_WALKS

Frustrating loss. Seems we are still missing assignments in the defensive zone. Penguins were getting a ton of space in our zone and took advantage. Also noticed that the line blender is continuing. I hope they give shango an extended look on the top line, if not Coronato.

Coronato looked good out there once again.

  17. CaptinDerpI

Stroke your weenie for Mack Celebrini

  18. Budget-Candle2171

    Onto hatewatching the Oilers.

  19. mackharp0818

5 fucking 3rd period goals. We are lucky to be 1-1

  20. JayTalk

Total collapse at the start of the 3rd decided it. On the good side of things, Markstrom looks like he’s really gunning for a bounceback season. He’s been excellent these last two games. The D zone coverage has gotta get fixed though…so many high danger scoring chances were given up.

  21. FromSuckToBlow

Christ at least give it 15 games before you sell the farm here boys. They look ok, just need to put it together.

  22. Armchair-Gm-Podcast

Bad first few minutes of the third. Gunna take a few more games before the zone D and breakouts start clicking imo.

  23. Missed defensive assignments and turnovers cost us this game. Something for the Flames to work on in this trip, but I’m glad that Marky is back on his game. This could have been a far worse blowout if it weren’t for him.

  24. Nativejoel

I’m not gonna judge too hard but Basically all of these goals were system failures. Because we didn’t turn the puck over nearly this much last season. And everybody looks out of position for how skilled they actually are.

Markstrom is standing on his head and the skaters are letting him down. Please keep doing that until we figure this shit out.

Coronato feels like he needs true top 6 minutes with Huberdeau. Those 2 could be deadly if they play as nicely together as we all think they will.

  25. MonkeySailor

Coronato get’s his first of hopefully many but finishes the night with a -4. Hanifin a -3; not a good look for him.

So yeah, rough game all round it seems.

At least Markstrom’s seems to have regained his form.

  26. monstersandcoffee

What in the fuck was that third period?

  27. RelationshipMundane1

Am I the only one who thinks Dube needs a whip on the bum? He looked so sluggish and just didn’t have any hustle at all

  28. RealAdamRoth

It was an entertaining game to watch. If they play that way which I believe is the plan we won’t make the playoffs. This roster isn’t built to go up and down and win 6-5. Kadri and Hubby will be happy and I guess that’s what matters. I know everyone was super positive about Markstrom’s first game. I thought the positivity was a little over the top. I just don’t think he’s going to get his game back to a vezina level. Hope I’m wrong.

  29. shofsink

I’m sorry everyone. It’s my fault. The game was 1-0 until I started watching at the start of third period.

  30. Paulhockey77

The idiots overreacting need to chill

  31. Vinny331

Their star players took over the game in a BIG way. Needed Huberdeau and Lindholm to do that in the last 15 minutes. They couldn’t counterpunch… which is kind of a bummer.

Markstrom salvaged what he could, it could have been so much worse. Coronato and Mangiapane looked great imo. Coleman and Backlund were fairly solid. Everyone else was shit.

Ruzicka frustrates me so much. He’s a good puck possession player but just absolutely no killer instinct. It’s like he forgets the objective is to put the puck in the net.

I hate this new defensive system. There was no reason to change it… the defensive coverage was excellent last year, we just weren’t getting goaltending then. Now that we seem to have it back, imagine how good it would work.

That’s my debrief on game #2. See you after the next one y’all.

Edit: I actually liked Gilbert too. I think it was a good call to have him in there instead of Oesterle. At least right now. Man, I hope we Kylington back at some point soon.

  32. dadbodthor19

    At least it wasn’t 8-1 🤷🏻‍♂️

  33. lunchbawkz

    It’s only game 2.

Marky stole the show in the first. Solid outing during the second period. And then turnovers murdered us in the third. It sucks but nothing that isn’t fixable. I’m confident the coaching staff will gather good points to improve on from this game.

  34. rye_by_night

Woof, defensive lapses really fucked them tonight.

I know the flames are going to give Huby and Lindholm a lot of runway but I would like to see a Huby- Kadri- Coronato line at some point this year

  35. MapleNeath

A good time to remember we’re only two games into the season and Darnell Nurse makes 10.4 million with a 9.25 cap hit

  36. backchecklund

My expectations were too high I see. 81-1 will have to do

  37. rogerthatjim

Always root for the red jerseys no matter what but boy if Kadri is not the 70-80+ pt player tre thought he was paying for we’re gonna be a bit on the dry side for offensive talent.

  38. noahmiller032

Glad to see the failure to hold a lead carried over from last year 😞 shoulda won the game for Marky!

  39. Sorry y’all. Took a shower between the 2nd and the 3rd. This one is on me

  40. The-Reddit-Giraffe

Guys. This is the first time Huberdeau has been over a point per game with the flames! (if you tell me it’s only been 2 games into the season I’ll tell you to shut the fuck up)

  41. JaromeIggy

This road trip is going to be great for the team.

    GFG!

  42. Specialist-One-712

Early days. Lots to like about that game

  43. laboufe

My only take is that i expect more from Kadri, he looks like he is coasting half the time

  44. byrdcage

I can’t believe Husky didn’t talk about the defense. again.
