Literally all of us knew the 2 goals called back meant we wouldn’t score again. Took all the air out of our sails

Shots were 41-21, I know the game script kinda dictated Columbus sitting back and playing D for the 3rd period but I don’t hate the way we played. We created a lot of traffic around the goal and never quit on the game. Bad luck all night. At least we don’t look lifeless.

omg someone fix their mic in this Fox post-game interview

Not going 82-0. Learn and move on.

    [Cuylle’s First Goal](https://streamable.com/x21mer)

Spent most of the game trying to learn how to screen capture clips without them being so laggy. Finally figured it out, I think. Enjoy Cuylle’s 1st again

Edit: How does one post a link but reword the URL? Like instead of seeing [http://stream](http://stream)….. I’d just like to have « Cuylle’s First » and make it so people can just click that text to got the link. I’m not sure if I’m explaining it correct

Despite the loss, think we still played pretty well. Having 2 goals taken away from us in a pretty short stretch definitely hurt our momentum. Schneider and jones did not look good, hopefully Lindgren’s injury isn’t serious.

Would’ve loved to have these points, but it’s game 2.

    We played amazingly.

This wasn’t us taking basic awful shots we legit fired amazingly set up great shots vs them.

My only issue is they outmuscled us(which few teams can do) leading to a lot of takeaways.

Most of the goals weren’t much of igors fault but it does worry me if an elite defense is gonna make him go cold between shots. A lot of his best games involve him just being a God with a shot at him every 2 or 3 minutes.

The fact that they didn’t just roll over and accept defeat says a lot. Hopefully they can keep that mindset for the next 80.

  9. the_mair

I mean if they play like that every game they’re gonna win a lot more than they lose

The team has turned into a lot better condition compared to last year. I love we are showing grit and fighting until the last second. The new changes are working and it’s understandable the players are gonna need some time to adapt to the new system and also experiment with different techniques

Felt like we played well and had a lot of bad luck along with those two goals called back. Not a loss to be worried about, the big thing to watch is how the game Monday night goes

Every underachieving trope we see in this game happened. One of the weirdest games I can remember

To brighten everyone’s day we had some more prospects light it up today:

    Brody Lamb: 1G 1A

    Noah Laba: 2G

    Othmann: 1A

  14. Master-Pineapple-580

How did my boy Laf look?

  15. Sean-Avery

Agree with everyone pointing out how they dominated on possession and I loved the fight… but 3 goals on 42 shots ain’t it either. Esp considering Gustaffson’s goal was pretty flukey lol. Power play has to be better. I think they’ll be fine, just need to get cooking

  16. ItsHeadbangerG

First and third periods were solid, second one doomed us. Defense reverted to a showing right out of last year, and Colombus was firing on all cylinders. Of course those two goals being called back didn’t help, and it surely impacted morale.

Anyway it’s game 2 of 82, if you’re out here panicking already, I [implore](https://youtu.be/l60MnDJklnM?si=MB07SDQWBA2P-gub) you to reconsider. Lets go home and stomp the yotes.

    See ya Monday.

Put up a good effort and got a bit unlucky offensively but still can’t finish like stretches we went through last year. It is alarming how bad our 3rd pairing was. Not sure if we can win consistently against good teams with those two on D.

  18. trappedinthedesert

this certainly hurts our chances of going 82-0-0 this season

  19. elfinito77

I am very excited about Bread’s play and energy level the first 2 games.

Not sure if Lav said something to him or he just reflected in the off-season…but he’s playing with purpose to start the season…

It’s early and lots of season left, and he needs to keep it up….BIUT, I am really fucking excited about his play these 2 games.

  20. JukemanJenkins

Panarin and Lafreniere look very sharp.

They threw more than 40 shots on net. Hopefully Lindgren isn’t out long term, but the focus should be starting the season off well at home against the Coyotes.

  21. HowardHughes529

Seasons over. We lost a game.. in all seriousness, couple of unlucky calls didn’t go our way. I’m still stoked for this season. Boys look like they have potential to be great. Except zac jones- fuck that guy.

  22. will122589

It’s a bad loss cause the Blue Jackets aren’t good but when you have two goals taken away from you in 10 minutes it’s got to take the wind out of your sails.

It’s a long season, win Monday and forget this entirely

  23. Eire4ever

Lav’s system has the D joining early and stepping up in neutral zone which is great but if you don’t have back up, it can lead to primo scoring chances against.
    That and Jones sux

  24. ahoy__fiji

Didn’t see the game, but what the hell happened to Shesterkin????

Everyone, Vally is doing his best to calm us down and relax, but this was a game where offensive shots were there and nothing went in.

The offensive zone time for the Rangers in tonight’s game I’ll admit, was very good tonight. Cuylle got and effort goal, Kreids got his tip in (although the result was already decided) and Gus looked good offensive too. Two goals taken off the board, was that the reason why the Rangers lost? No. the 2nd goal i couldnt tell if that was offside or not. Not using those disallowed goals as the excuse why they lost. They lost this game when CBJ had their guys bodying the Rangers near the front of the net in the Ranger Zone. Bad defensive turnovers, especially from Schnieder and Zac Jones. Kakko had a bad one too. Dude should have shot that puck which led to the CBJ goal.

The 1st and 3rd period time of possession in the o zone and the Rangers shots were good. But not good enough. Were there some empty calorie shots? Maybe. Correct me on this. In the game of hockey, the puck bounces funny. Tonight, it did. Elvis made saves so did the backup for the Jackets.

Vally said it where you need to pick up pts against teams that « are not playoffs teams » this is true. But tonight also proved for those who think CBJ sucks, that all of these 32 teams are going to be competitive. CBJ may not make the playoffs(they could if they can avoid any more injury). But Vally also stated that this team(Rangers) can’t fall into the same habits leading up to the helmet throw.

Overall, the defense could have been better. I liked the grittiness and fight to the end of the final buzzer going off. Not really mad. Not a rant. Just disappointed. Start better, and finish the chances. Those chances tonight would have gone in the back of the net in any other game.

No need to complain after tonight folks. It’s game 2 of a long season. But you need to pick up points as much as you can.

Onto the Yotes. Opening Night. At the Garden….. Onto the Yotes.

  26. R4vi0981

Wasn’t able to watch, but who did Jones replace? I don’t remember him playing in Buffalo.

  27. Kaapo-Taco

Score doesn’t dictate what happened in this game. Laf looked really good with that second lien tonight too

  28. JuliusDiamond

Game one I watched intensely, game two I bartended and could barely watch. Seemed they didn’t fuck around in period 3 at least. Anyone mad at any performances? Mostly just curious.

  29. ShouniAishaKuma

The amount of people trashing on Jones is hilarious. Schneider was by far the worst part of that pairing tonight.

Couldn’t complete a pass to save his life tonight.

I’m guessing the folks who were shitting on Laf needed a new whipping boy lol
