That wasn’t even our worst roster. In retrospect it hurts to look back and think we had hope back then lol.
I did get a Lee stempniak game stick sometime around this game though, so that’s cool

I remember having a young crop of dmen in Larsson, Merrill, Gelinas, Santini and Helgeson and thinking, “man, once these guys come into their own, this group is going to be formidable.” And, uh, they were not.

I can’t believe I watched nearly every game too. Forgot about Man Bear Pig.

I honestly can’t believe people used to shit on Cory, who was elite, when this is what he had in front of him for like 3-4 years.
Wow. Blandisi’s still around too, playing in the AHL. I also just thought of Lee Stempniak so deja vu.

Remember when they gave these out at the top of the escalators? And they also used to give you a high five too smh

Even though I started being a fan in the late 80s around 5 years old, it wasn’t until a few years before the first cup that I could actually comprehend who players were, if our team was good or not, etc. – and then we were pretty awesome for awhile from that point. I never had to deal with being a fan during the brutal first few years after they moved to Jersey.
But then living through rosters like that makes me savor what we have now more than I could have ever imagined. God the past 10 years were fucking bleak.
It’s not even that we just turned it around and at least started not sucking so hard – it’s that we came from a roster like that only 7 seasons ago, to now having a powerhouse line-up with a legitimate top-10-in-the-league NHL superstar.

NHL needs more guys with signature celebrations.
