Liked how the offense played but gave up too many bad goals. Just can’t be making all those defensive mistakes with the level of goaltending we have.
Be nice if we remembered how to block shots.
Out on date night tonight but scoreboard looks like Hedman had a good game. How was the rest of it? Was hoping for a Stammer hatty
Our d either needs to improve or breezy needs to look at trading for another dman. I miss mcdonut big time. Our forwards are looking pretty good tho.
Whatever abominable curse is placed on the team when the clock reads « 20:00 2nd », they’ll need to figure it out. They’ve gotten shellacked in both games’ 2nd periods so far and while they were good enough in the 3rd to escape vs NSH, it didn’t fly tonight and it won’t fly in the future.
Not sure if it’s a coaching thing with the long change specifically which leads to looser coverage/missed assignments, but there will need to be some work done after the back-to-back ends. Interested to see how Tomkins plays tomorrow!

Tough loss, defense needs work, send these refs to GITMO, but it’s game 2 of 82. On to Ottawa.
Turnovers are a big problem but the officiating was directly responsible for giving them unearned chances and goals and letting them take chances away from us.
NHL won’t do a damn thing about it either because it’s all by design.

The disappointing thing about the defense is that Hedman and Sergachev have been the two worst. It’s like both forgot how to defend odd man rushes. Giving up 2v0s with regularity is ridiculous.
Other concern is the bottom 6 needs to start chipping in offensively. Forechecking is okay but going to need them to give us something on the scoresheet at some point
Watson needs to play tomorrow. I’m fine with a close game against a decent team, I’m less fine with our horrible team defense, but it is only one game. What’s unacceptable is how comfortable Detroit was pushing us around until Sergy started getting shitty in the last 10 minutes.
Vasylevskiy has been around so long that it’s easy to overlook the little things he did – like stop routine, unscreened shots, or not make the situation way worse by playing the puck behind the net.

Wish they could trade those three Hedman points for tighter defense from him.
Got a quick reminder how bad the team looked defensively last year. It’s still the same problem. Very sloppy on the own end, everyone trying to be one-touch-Kuch and fumbling pucks in situations where taking it slowly would net slightly less offence but a lot better defence.
Its early season i expect this team to get better with time but that doesn’t make up for the god awful second periods we’ve had or the fact that this team has been consistently out shot in season’s past and hasnt made any real changes to fix it. The forward group looks fine Stamkos and Hagel are off to the races and its beautiful. D has to get their shit together physicality needs to be ingrained in their noggins.
